The United Nations is worse than useless as a protector of human rights.

UN Group Under Fire For Keeping Syria On Human Rights Panel | Fox News:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/03/08/un-group-under-fire-for-keeping-syria-on-human-rights-panel/

This group voted to keep them on the Human Rights Panel:

Watchdog group U.N. Watch said Thursday that the latest vote shows UNESCO officials are afraid that if they boot Syria from the human rights panel, “many of them would be next.”

Like I said when the entire UN voted against Honduras, including the traitorous representative from Honduras, when Honduras restored constitutional order by ousting the dictator Manuel Zelaya, it’s just a club for dictators and wannabe dictators helping build a world order where human rights are meaningless because you only get the ones they want you to get and when they want you to get them and if you are one of the ones they want to have them.

Who’s the “they”? Whoever they decide gets to decide. Like this time this panel where the majority voted to let Syria keep its say in human rights issues.

It’s time to spread the message of liberty and freedom. Ron Paul is the symbol and champion of freedom right now, but it is bigger than him.

In fact it is the Golden Rule itself.

Plastic surgery tragedy proves caveat emptor is better than government regulators

Plastic Surgery Nightmare For a Texas Woman | Fox News Latino:
http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/health/2011/12/20/plastic-surgery-nightmare-for-texas-teen/?intcmp=obinsite

Here we go again. The statists will say things like this need more regulation. By which they mean more regulations written by government employees or more laws written by Congressional aides. (With apologies to the few who might write their own proposals).

The regulatory regime has lulled too many people to somnolence with the idea that the government is on top of everything and that it should prevent anything bad from happening to us.

That’s the solution, they think, to bad doctors, incompetent doctors doing bad things to their patients.

But then that just shifts the discussion to the one-size-fits-all solution, a government panel to set the rules by decree, and it does not fit all, not at all.

For example. Some people are more willing to take the risk. For new treatments that cost more because they have not had historical traction, why should a millionaire who is dying of cancer have to wait for a costly government process if he wants to take the risk and has the money to finance the first attempts at a possible cure for what ails him?

As it is now, a drug company is required to finish three years of experimentation on rats, and another three years of experimentation on humans, and another study demanded by someone on the last review panel.

Once upon a time I met a guy who had distribution rights in the United States for a new idea to reduce the facial wrinkles that come with age, and to firm up skin on younger folks. The obvious market would be women –and some men of course. It was just a type of bag with a substance similar to the packets used to keep things cold in refrigerators and in styrofoam, and I have no idea whether it works except that the idea was convincing and this guy seemed decent enough, and the company already had convincing traction in Columbia, South America.

It could be sold in the United States without the FDA approval, and with the claims for firming up skin, according to the friend, but it would be open for any kind of liability suit someone might bring. So he said anyway, but I know of companies that have been shut down for any kind of claim whatsoever that somebody at an FDA desk decides is “medical”, even true things. Like healthy amounts of fruit helps keep your immune system healthy. Can’t say that while you’re selling oranges, unless you finance a study.

Not making that up, no-sir-ee.

The FDA study that would have protected him from lawsuits cost about $3,000. Not much compared to what a lot of drug studies have cost the big companies. This wasn’t a drug and it was external, and its most important ingredient was sealed inside a strong flexible plastic, and its use was basically merely the cooling factor.

But the packaging material touches the skin, and there is that cooling factor, so the study was required. And… that without any promise that there would not be more requests following.

The friend was a retiree, and had a comfortable monthly income, and after the surprise he got had decided he did not want to bother with the investment, especially when the final decision lay not in the results but in the whim of a bureaucrat.

People who demand more government control over their lives and over the people they buy from and do business with, often don’t realize they are demanding to be told what to do with their own lives, more than they think. They trade off the abuse they get from private parties, private companies, so they think, to the trust they have in their government.

They forget that the members of government departments are made of the same kind of flesh as everybody else.

A guy or group in government, if you give them control over a big chunk of national commerce, economy, what is going to keep them more honest than their counterparts in a private enterprise that also have to answer to both their stockholders and to their customers, and even their employees?

So, it’s time for Golden Rule Government:

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. – Matthew 7:12

History vindicates Joe McCarthy: Read Senator Joseph R. McCarthy’s Reply to Edward R. Murrow

Senator Joseph R. McCarthy‘s Reply to Edward R. Murrow, See it Now (CBS-TV, April 6, 1954):
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/MRC/murrowmccarthy2.html

Edward Murrow was built up in his lifetime and since as a great journalist and exemplary, and no doubt journalism schools everywhere lift him up as a fine example to follow.

But there are things that you won’t find in the standard boilerplate biographies that are relevant to the story.

Edward Murrow had already presented all kinds of attacks against Senator Joe McCarthy’s post-war investigations of the infiltration of Communist agents, and more specifically Soviet agents, in the United States government and the state department.

The fact that it was a valid pursuit was vindicated when investigators later discovered that Alger Hiss was passing secret information to the Soviets. Alger Hiss was one of the subjects of the McCarthy hearings, and those hearings exposed him. A former member of the Communist Party produced physical evidence that Alger Hiss was not only a member of the Communist Party with him, but that they had collaborated to pass secret government documents to the Soviet Union.

Remember, that was Josef Stalin‘s Soviet Union.

Then there was Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, convicted of treason for passing nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union.

There have been lots more exposed ever since, and there are characters of higher positions who have also been exposed but not in the sources that the public is force-fed from Big Media. “None Dare Call it Treason” exposed some of that, and of course the nameless faceless characters in the shadows have decreed to put the facts exposed with that tome behind the psychological smokescreen of “conspiracy theory” labeling.

When has history ever been free of conspiracies by the rich and powerful to increase their riches and their power and fool us?

I stayed at a motel once where the manager was one of the Hungarian “freedom fighters” of 1956. Those brave souls threw out their Communist masters in one day! and they had control of the country for one whole week. They had quickly formed the structure of a republican government and they were already in charge of the country, this man told me, and immediately requested official recognition from the Western nations.

Russian troops were massed quickly on the borders but they stayed there waiting for orders. This freedom fighter veteran told me that it was common knowledge at the time around the world that the Russians were waiting to see what the USA reaction would be, and the entire world knew this. Everybody waited.

Remember, Truman had rushed to official recognized the state of Israel within hours of the declaration by their nascent government.

But it took Eisenhower a week to declare his intentions about Hungary. Finally, he used a speech to proclaim that they had already taken care of that issue (of Hungary) at the Yalta conferences. We know from history that’s where the West gave post-war Eastern Europe to the Soviet Union. Eisenhower was saying they would not recognize the new free republic of Hungary and they would not interfere with Soviet interests there. The next day, Stalin’s tanks rolled into Hungary, the freedom fighters fled alongside all the Hungarians that could manage to scramble across the river to Austria.

Barry Farber, a master of many languages, was there to help the refugees get out, and described some of that escape effort in his book, “How to Learn Any Language”.

Murrow rebutted later and “explained away” some of the accusations in the piece, but then ever since then he is the one that has gotten the last word in Ivy League journalism, history books used in government schools, in mass media references, and every time anti-Communism gets mentioned.

And the fact that Murrow and his stories knocked back any attempt to expose surreptitious infiltration of socialist ideology into federal government, despite the fact that McCarthy had exposed its reality, is suggestive.

And note here, that he also protested when his bosses began to allow their own equal-time rebuttals to his attacks. Like I say, fascist leftists believe in “free speech for me, but not for thee”. They believe it’s okay to take our money for their pet causes but don’t believe it’s okay for the people to take their money for the people’s causes. Increase taxes on oil producers, but give money to subsidize inefficient energy.

In other words, Murrow made Joe McCarthy into a club that knocks critics of socialism and Communism into exile from the land of free speech and public consciousness.

The word “irony” is overused, but I think it applies here.

The left and the control freak press has used the same tactics they accused Joe McCarthy of to do the same things to anybody who exposed socialist strategies, tactics, methods, penetrations, and plans.

It is also telling that Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs are still held as heroes and martyrs by Communists and leftists even as they claim their “innocence”, saying they were never Communists and traitors. They denounce opposition to communism while they demand the government they claim to despise apply the same “McCarthy” and “witch-hunt” tactics against free-market advocates and dissenters.

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. – Matthew 10:26

Learning English? Helping a friend? Try learning the most used words first…

March 9, 2012

Bouncing around different web pages and following interesting links, I came across this one with facts about English, from Oxford English Dictionary folks:

The OEC: Facts about the language – Oxford Dictionaries Online:
http://oxforddictionaries.com/words/the-oec-facts-about-the-language

I was a missionary for many years down south and that’s how I became fluent in Spanish. Along the way there were opportunities to teach English as a second language and with that came some knowledge about English itself, including the list you’ll find at that link of the most commonly used words of the English language.

But I also became an advocate of teaching your children from the moment they are born in everything possible, including writing.

Those two disciplines come together in some areas. I found it useful to know what were the most common words used in English.

One English school in Santo Domingo was founded by a fully trilingual (Spanish, English, Dutch -and he may have known more languages) young scholar who had researched the best ways to teach, and more specifically, languages.

He said research showed the six was the optimum number for learning the most and quickest and with the most lasting results in any subject, and that six in a class was better than one-on-one tutorials.

That’s not applicable to all learning though, and while class size makes some difference, it doesn’t make all the difference. The teacher‘s approach is a big factor, and his personality helps, and how he accommodates the teaching style to fit the personality, whether the teacher best fits the students (I’m a fantastic technical instructor but not too apt for high schoolers, for example), materials can help, and in some cases discipline in the classroom for younger grades and high school.

And then there’s home schooling that has proven in countries of the West at least to be far better in terms of academic performance and character formation than the government schooling centers. For various reasons.

But back to the vocabulary list. At the above mentioned English school (its name has slipped from memory for now) we had flash cards with stick figures for the most commonly used nouns and verbs, with some that were good functionally for helping the language absorption along. The first thing we did was to have the students memorize a small set of words each of a few nouns, a few verbs. The first words were good for building perfectly legitimate two-word sentences in English, like “She walks”, “He talks”.

Then we’d add a few more nouns and verbs, plus some adjectives. And the language building continued from there.

One more thing. We taught them to memorize a new word the first day, and review them the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 15th, and the 30th day. If they followed that review pattern, the word stuck with them forever.

I think it was maybe the best method.

The school shortly after I started teaching there closed down, because having a maximum of six hit up against the realities of cost. The school’s founder had other contacts anyway, and shortly thereafter I learned he had gotten contracts for high-volume translations of some important international documents. I inherited the students in my classes who hired me privately and the rest is history.

I thought I would share some of this experience for anyone who might benefit from it.

Seven months later, Gibson is denied its day in court after outrageous raid

March 8, 2012

From the “not making this up” department, folks, this is happening in the USA today!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5IYGroW1nA&feature=player_embedded

This was a raid that was blatant in the fact that it seems these mini-tyrants did not even care about looking fair or equitable. When you look at the public justification for this raid, it would be worth a laugh riot if it  were not so tragic.

So it’s not only an obvious play in the exercise of power, it is a bold-faced political hit.

The Gibson CEO is a Republican, and its major competitor a contributor to Democrat Party candidates.

This is a tactic that aspiring tyrants use. In their own press, they brag about shutting down the private sector so as to remove the economic base for any opposition.

Follow the money.

Then follow the example of Jesus Christ. Take a big long nasty whip to the money changers like he did.

Contraception issue: dirty trick to distract from dictatorship fetish

March 8, 2012

I knew there was a filthy dirty pro-Obama campaign trick in there when former Clinton staffer Stephanopolous popped the stupid contraception question at one of the Republican debates. So I was not suprised to find out that this mandate was a campaign strategy to fool the American people into electing him again, besides just being another landmark in keeping Americans used to giving up ever more of their religious freedom along with their economic freedom. So with the facts that keep dribbling out, it looks like this Sandra Fluke flap is another of the same series of outrages:

http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/is-this-why-sandra-fluke-testified/

Yep, there is a gang that was spawned by the radical 1960s SDS and Weathermen. I was there, I was one, and I  can tell one. It doesn’t always “take one to know one”, but I know what a Trotskyite Communist or Fabian socialist would do to sneak into the White House “under cover” if he had some zillionaire backers.

It wouldn’t be the first time. Lenin and Trotsky had their zillionaire backers for taking over Russia in the Bolshevik revolution. The Communist American John Reed in the book “10 Days That Shook the World” did not mention the super-capitalist sponsors of the Bolsheviks, because that would have exposed both the hypocrisy and the corruption at the very “highest” levels of socialist leadership, and destroyed the totally fabricated myth of spontaneous workers’ uprisings.

Books like John Reed’s, just like Das Kapital and the Communist Manifesto, were mythical intellectual packaging with false labels meant to fool the “smart” people, the “intelligentsia”, into thinking Marxism was “scientific” and for bonus points, “inevitable”.

My disillusions came early on because my “leftist” thinking evolved into political anarchist philosophies. At the time I figured if you can’t trust people to govern themselves, how can you trust them to govern others?

And the truth is, human nature being what it is, you cannot trust government because you cannot trust people with power, most especially in government, because the enforcers are made of the same human flesh as everybody else, meaning the rest of us.

The truth is, what starving industrial-plant worker of Karl Marx’s day was able to even have the time to read Das Kapital, much less, understand it?

It’s the rich who foment and organize political revolutions, with a possible historically recent exception of places where there is a substantial middle class that understands principles of freedom and the importance of property rights alongside the natural human rights of free speech, free press, the free exercise of religion (not the more limited “right of worship”), freedom from arbitrary searches and seizure, etc.

Ron Paul Idaho Team Welcomes Romney Family Members as Surrogate Caucus Speakers

March 6, 2012

Ron Paul has now received endorsements from five relatives of Mitt Romney, following the endorsement by Rick Santorum‘s nephew:

http://www.ronpaul2012.com/2012/03/05/ron-paul-idaho-team-welcomes-romney-family-members-as-surrogate-caucus-speakers/

Jared Romney, out of Salt Lake City, said his grandfather is a first cousin with former Michigan Governor George Romney, the father of Mitt Romney, and stated, “It really comes down to Ron Paul championing the ideas of the Constitution, in how he lives it, understanding we must return to and follow its guiding principles.  He also understands we must reign in the Federal Reserve System which is destroying our economy.”

Troy Romney also lives in Salt Lake City and is a University of Utah student, and will be speaking at the Montpelier caucus location in Bear Lake County.  Troy’s grandfather and George Romney are cousins as well.  Troy said he supports Ron Paul because “he stands for the values and principles America was founded upon.”

These family member endorsements are preceded by an announcement of support for Ron Paul by Rick Santorum’s nephew, John Garver.

Concerning the active “Latter-day Saints for Ron Paul” coalition, this announcement follows the high-profile endorsements of Overstock.com President Jonathan Johnson, prominent author and chair of the Utah Tenth Amendment Center Connor Boyack, and that of Utah Republican Liberty Caucus Chair Darcy Van Orden.

All such announcements help present Ron Paul as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney and demonstrate that no presidential candidate has a monopoly on this crucial western states voter segment or even, for that matter, the Romney family.

Homeland Security Tracks These Keywords on Twitter and Facebook VIDEO

March 6, 2012

http://mashable.com/2012/03/02/social-networking-monitoring/?WT.mc_id=en_top_stories&utm_campaign=Top%2BStories

God bless EPIC, they keep on keeping on, fighting the hegemony’s urge to monitor everything you say or do on the Internet. Now we find out the DHS has hired a company to monitor all activity for given keywords.

That’s a blatant assault on the 4th and 5th amendments, but they’ve been ignoring the US Constitution for generations now. Like the IRS prying into free speech content of corporations applying for 501c3 or 501c4 status.

“The agency has demonstrated no legal basis for its social network and media monitoring program, which threatens important free speech and expression rights,” EPIC said in a Feb. 22 letter submitted to U.S. Congress.

EPIC says the surveillance of social media networks, public forums and websites violates the First Amendment and the Privacy Act of 1974.

Report denying danger EMP danger called ‘junk science’

March 6, 2012

Posted in the spirit of “for what it’s worth”:

http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/report-denying-danger-emp-danger-called-junk-science/

But you always have to be skeptical of “research” when it comes out of the government or government funded programs anyway. Especially when the conclusions change shortly after there is a new political appointee….

Government funding of anything always politicizes its target, count on it. And if the funds allocated by Congress seems to go to research that goes against the principles mouthed aloud by Congress, then you have to wonder about those Congressmen themselves, why are they going against themselves and their constituents. And make no mistake, the research conclusions are tainted, and the facts can be arranged for impact.

I know the military has underground bases that are “hardened” against the effects of EMP above-ground and it does not take such things so lightly.

This report is corporation-friendly, very strange for an anti-corporation administration, don’t you think?

Remember when a solar flare knocked out most cell phones for a few days? And that wasn’t the strongest.

Obama’s IRS on warpath against tea parties

Obama’s IRS on warpath against tea parties:
http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/obamas-irs-on-warpath-against-tea-parties/

The situation developed recently as the local tea party groups submitted paperwork for their federal status designations, in some cases as nonprofits. The IRS responded in what apparently is a coordinated campaign with questions including one for the names and contact information for relatives of board members.

The result is that the American Center for Law and Justice has agreed to represent the groups in their responses to the IRS.

There already are dozens of groups involved, and ACLJ chief Jay Sekulow told WND that he expects that total to rise quickly.

“There are certain questions that are outside the bounds,” he told WND. “They’re invasive, they violate free speech and association. Those questions will not be addressed.”

And what kind of questions are they? Some examples:

  1. Do you directly or indirectly communicate with members of legislative bodies? If so, provide copies of the written communications and contents of other forms of communications.
  2. Please describe the associate group members and their role with your organization in further detail. (a) How does your organization solicit members? (b) What are the questions asked of potential members? (c) What are the selection criteria for approval? (d) Do you limit membership to other organizations exempt under 501(c)(4) of the Code? (e) Provide the name, employer identification number, and address of the organizations.
  3. Do you have a close relationship with any candidate for public office or political party? If so describe fully the nature of that relationship.

And there are more people reporting more than that:

According to a letter posted online by Fox News, the IRS is demanding printed copies of organization Web pages, newsletters, bulletins, flyers, newsletters, social networking sites, officer rosters and revenues and expenditures.

“Have you expressly endorsed or oppose (sic) candidates for public office or slates of candidates at public events, on your website, on your radio show or You Tube page, in your literature or in any other forum? Do you plan to do so in the current election cycle? If so, provide a list of candidates for political office you have expressly endorsed or opposed, and describe the occasion on which you made each endorsement,” the letter states.

“Do you have a close relationship with any candidate for public office or political party? If so describe fully the nature of that relationship. Provide copies of any agreements you have with others for provision of goods or services, sharing of facilities or other cooperative arrangements, or anything else.”
At Hot Air Green Room, columnist Howard Portnoy questioned, “Is someone out to intimidate the tea party movement, and if so, who?”

What more need be said?

No wonder The Obama presidency wants the IRS to take charge of enforcing his backers’ medical care nationalization.

After all, whether it’s international socialism, or national socialism, it’s the same road to tyranny for those who are asleep at the wheel.

America is already suffering for its sins, turning its back on God.
