We have no king but JESUS!

God’s word to Samuel:

1 Samuel 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

Samuel had appointed his own corrupt sons as judges, forgetting the lesson of Eli and Eli’s sons, and breaking the tradition of letting the people themselves (or God himself) to set the stage for the people’s demand for an earthly king.

So not only does it remind us that God is above all the world’s kings, but it is to remind us to hold God as our ONLY ruler over us. We may follow Daniel’s or Joseph’s example when kings ask for our counsel, and remember counsel of the older and wiser men of Rehoboam’s advisers. But it’s like that call that so many politicos hate, “We have no king but JESUS!”

Hosea 13:10 KJB – God says to Israel “I WILL BE YOUR KING; where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities?
