I was an anti-war protestor and full-bore socialist during the time of Kent State, but it’s not going to be like this guy thinks. Kent State was the beginning of the end of the 1960s rebellion. Good riddance. There were some good things, like the ongoing follow-on waves that came from the Jesus People movements.

I was “power to the people” but always wanted the whole truth. It took me awhile to realize that any “dictatorship” of the so-called “proletariat” that kept people under a hard boot while they got “educated” was not “power to the people”.

There is no substitute for respecting radical, complete full individual freedom, human rights as an individual’s rights, to speech, press, assembly, innocence till proven guilty, but his rights in his papers, property, effects.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, goes the paraphrase of the Golden Rule. Accept no phony substitutes.
