BRISTOL – The jury finds suspended Liberty County Sheriff Nick Finch not guilty on both counts.

Finch was accused of releasing a man who was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and then destroying the arrest records.

It took the jury less than 90 minutes to reach the verdict.

Moments after the verdict was read, Finch spoke to Governor Rick Scott by phone. He was reinstated a couple of hours later.

“Sheriff Nick Finch will be reinstated immediately,” said Governor ick Scott in a written statement. “I would like to thank the members of the jury in Liberty County for their service in this trial. I would also like to thank Interim Sheriff Buddy Money for his service to the state of Florida.”

Gun Watch has a list of mass killings that were stopped or thwarted by armed citizens here:

  1. The Pearl, Mississippi school shooting was stopped by the vice principal Joel Myrick with a Colt .45, The Appalachian School shooting was stopped by two students with handguns. Both of the above incidents were stopped by the armed citizens threatening the shooter without firing.
  2. Plans to slay everyone in a Muskegon, Michigan store and steal enough cash and jewelry to feed their “gnawing hunger for crack cocaine” fell apart for a band of would-be killers after one of their victims fought back.
  3. The mass church shooting in Colorado Springs was stopped by the shooter being shot by a church member with a CCW permit.
  4. The Santa Clara gunshop shooting in 1999 was stopped by an armed citizen after the shooter declared that he was going to kill everyone. Police found a list of intended victims in his car. Only the perpetrator, Richard Gable Stevens was shot.
  5. The December, 1991, Aniston, Alabama defense where a CCW holder stopped armed robbers who were herding employees, customers, and his wife into a cooler. He shot both robbers, killing one.
  6. July 13, 2009, in Virginia at the Golden Food Market: The gunman tried to shoot several people, was stopped by a CCW carrier.
  7. Just recently, in Early Texas, armed citizen Vic Stacy shot and stopped a deranged man who had just murdered two neighbors and was firing at police with a rifle.
  8. Abraham Dickman had a history of anger against employees of the AT&T store in New York Mills, New York. On May 27th, 2010, he walked into the store with a .357 and a list of six employees. He shot the first employee, but was stopped from further attacks when Donald J. Moore, an off duty police officer who was allowed to carry his own handgun when not on duty, drew and fired his .40 caliber, killing Mr. Dickman before he could fire any more shots.
  9. Another off duty police officer stopped the Trolley Square shooting with his personal handgun. He stopped the killing and contained the shooter until police reinforcements arrived and ended the situation.
  10. Ernesto Villagomez entered the Players Bar and Grill and killed two people. He reloaded and was continuing to shoot when a citizen with a concealed carry permit shot him and stopped the killing.
  11. Kiarron Parker rammed his car into another in the church parking lot, got out and attempted to kill multiple church members. He was only able to kill one before a member of the congregation, the nephew of the lady killed, and an off duty police officer, drew his handgun and shot Parker, stopping the killing.

Whenever a mass shooting is stopped by a gun owner there are going to be fewer victims so these stories are often under reported or not reported at all by major news outlets. And of course since self defensive gun uses do not help the agenda of gun control activists these stories will continue to be ignored.

A long list of school shootings and the shooters’ psychotropic drugs

I came across a very interesting and very long list of school shootings in a chart that also shows the psychotropic drugs associated with them:

The drugs were a big part of the plot in the movie “Conspiracy Theory” with Mel Gibson. The main bad guy in the movie, played by Patrick Stewart, used them to keep the confused hero under control and disconnected.

Some teachers don’t want to bear arms, but let’s welcome the help from those who do

December 23, 2012

I came across a blog on the subject of those who are having trouble with the confusing propaganda that says decent Americans should give up their guns to protect themselves from people with guns. It doesn’t make sense, but the “profusion” of guns is being blamed for manic acts like the one in Newtown instead of blaming the one who did it and the outrageous way that mental health patients’ families have been left without recourse to help their sons, like in that case…

http://dougpete.wordpress.com/2012/12/22/why-you-wouldnt-want-to-arm-me/

Okay so you’re not comfortable around firearms, and NOT ONE person who is advocating the freedom for teachers and staff to have the means to stop the bad guys, NOT ONE is saying teachers should be “forced” to have them or get distracted. But there are LOTS of teachers who are well-trained and responsible with them. If you are more afraid of such decent teachers having handy access to their arms in the case of a threat, than you are of mad dog killers like in Newtown, then you don’t haven’t had a chance to think through this thing logically.

but from the response we see that there are principals and teachers that are very much comfortable with them, trained in their use, not klutzes, would never shoot a sparrow, BUT would be fierce in the act of protecting the young children in their care. The principal charged at the shooter in Newtown and sacrificed herself to try to buy time for everybody else, but it could have been MUCH better an outcome if she had just shot him instead.

Or since this shooter apparently was intent on ending it with his own suicide, just letting the shooter get a glimpse of it (like Alfred Thompson’s firefighter father) might have led him to end himself quick, like the hero in the Clackamus Mall who aimed at the bad guy –who shot himself after seeing the weapon.

By the way, the media encourages these massacres when they publicize the names of the bad guys. I heard one American anti-violence activist report in an interview during the time of school shootings in the 1990s, that Japanese journalists were appalled that American media published all the names of the perps.

That’s right, Japan, with brutal gun-control laws, has mass school killings and attacks. Before guns, people, throughout recorded history there were these things called “wars” that were fought with not one firearm, before there were such things.

China certainly makes it illegal and nigh impossible for its serfs to get firearms, but that didn’t stop a deranged man from getting at 22 children with his knife before somebody was able to stop him.

Who can deny that the best way to stop a bad guy that has a gun is with a good guy that has a gun.

Once upon a time my wife stopped the kidnapping of her own son cold by taking out her own concealed weapon. Don’t tell her she should not have one!

Now here we go, I do agree that nobody should be forced to carry a firearm, and here we have Doug who has the common sense to avoid them for himself. But there are teachers who are good at their use and would love to be able to have them handy, like the teacher in one of those school shootings in the 1990s who had to rush to his car –outside the “gun-free” zone, of course— to fetch his own which he then used to stop stop the shooter!

But guess what? Your national media that barks so loudly about the “public’s right to know” when they want to know something, they had a toothless bite for this one, only saying that a teacher “was able to subdue” the shooter.

If somebody walks into your son’s school with such intentions, would you rather have somebody on the spot that can shoot back at the killer before he got to his own grandson? Or would he prefer not to bother teachers?

And there’s one more thing.

The number one reason lovers of freedom like Patrick Henry and Gouverneur Morris forced the inclusion of the Second Amendment in the Constitution with the rest of the Bill of Rights was not to protect the sport of hunting or local and national target competitions. As they stated specifically, the main thing was the importance of protecting the right of INDIVIDUALS to bear arms WITHOUT INFRINGEMENT, was to protect those individual rights as the birthright of all people.

This assistant principal in Pearl High School in Pearl, Miss, stopped a shooter using his own

Of course all the official government-media complex propaganda organs immediately went ballistic about guns with the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. But there have been several incidents where school shootings were stopped by an armed civilian, but there would have been more if not for the stupid law that says schools should be zones where the right of self-defense is not respected.

http://rkba.org/users/myrick.txt

..But this assistant principal Myrick had to run to his car outside the school-area “gun-free” zone to get the gun he used to hold the shooter for the police.

What if he had been able to keep his firearm in his desk at school?

Many of the 61 school shootings they’re spouting about in Propaganda Media could have been stopped cold if more teachers had been able to bring their weapons on to campus.

Some gun control believers are even using arguments that show they do not even check there own facts. One blogger asked whether his reader “had ever heard of a mass killing being stopped by the use of guns even once”.

Why do the disinformation operatives think that the worst incidents happen in places like schools? Criminals have no problem getting guns! Heck, even if you’re the most ruthless drug-smuggling cartel on earth, you might even get the United States Justice Department to sell you some!

Guns are used much more often to stop crimes than to commit them, and they level the playing field for those who are smaller or weaker, or more often targets, like women.

IT takes just plain people sharing the stories to tell it, since the media covers this up.

http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-270374.html

It just makes sense though. Why do cops have guns? Because they face the criminals. So why shouldn’t decent citizens have them.

Besides, who will protect us if the government turns bad? It’s happened, after all, throughout history. Germany the Jews, Turkey the Armenians. the Bolsheviks, the Maoists

And this blogger put together a list of occasions where potential mass murders were stopped cold by a civilian with a firearm: http://www.volokh.com/2012/12/14/do-civilians-armed-with-guns-ever-capture-kill-or-otherwise-stop-mass-shooters/

There are many he did not list, though. In Israel, early on, guns were banned to the population, but at some point, being a nation that has an interest in stopping crimes of this nature, passed a law that legalized concealed carry.

Shortly afterward, a group of PLO militia stormed a shopping mall and started shooting everybody in sight. One elderly granny pulled her concealed weapon out and started shooting back, and the attackers panicked in confusion. One of the wounded attackers told a paramedic, “We didn’t expect anybody to shoot back!”

Another incident was in a mixed-race church in South Africa during the times of apartheid. You have to ask why a radical anti-apartheid group would attack a mixed race church, no doubt expecting no one would shoot back. The answer is that they don’t generally really care about what they say, they are commanded by leaders who only think about how to attain power over the populace, using ideology as a cloak. That church had a member who possessed his weapon, an off-duty policeman, and he stopped them.
