Mr. Friedman, Don’t You Ever Doubt Capitalism?

November 10, 2011

With all the inequity and greed in the world, don’t you ever have a little doubt about capitalism, Mr. Friedman? See the answer in this short clip on youtube:

Busted! Incidents show Obama gang giving it up for (selected) corporate paymasters

September 17, 2011

I didn’t know that GE has the largest lobbying budget than any other company in America:

How can GE claim that it does not receive special treatment? This is an amazing claim that insults the intelligence of not only us tea party folks, but every single taxpayer who voted for Obama too! Including all of Wall Street! The snorting from Wall Street is so loud it reaches all the way across the continent to the Pacific!

This is a hard one to believe. GE, again, spends more on lobbying than any other company. Its lobbyists include Linda Daschle, whose husband Tom was the Senate Majority Leader and today is a confidant of Obama. Former senior Ways & Means Committee member Jim McCrery is a lobbyist for GE as is former House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt. Former Senators Trent Lott and John Breaux are GE lobbyists. Immelt has been an official advisor to Obama through his whole presidency.

My beef is not that finds ways to profit off big government, but that it is following in the stupid, moronic footsteps of the corporate behemoths of the past that financed their own inevitable destruction at the hands of the tyrants they supported, like the big money that dished it out for Hitler only to find that they completely lost control of their little puppet. Can you see his nose growing?

My beef is that any corporation gets actually money or loan guarantees at all in any form. Capital gains taxes and corporate income taxes (on C1 corps) are an economy killer, because it takes out returns on investment that would otherwise go into more investment, or savings that also go into investment.

“Last year, only 4 percent of our revenue came from sales to the U.S. government.”

This is really off target. The dig at GE is not that it makes all its money selling to the U.S. government. It’s that it finds all sorts of ways to profit off of big government, including subsidies and regulations.

Off the top of my head, here are a few ways:

GE is a top beneficiary of Export-Import Bank subsidies.
GE launched an embryonic stem-cell business just after President Obama announced the government would start subsidizing them.
GE owns half of Greenhouse Gas Services, a business that generates and trades in greenhouse-gas credits — something that only has value if government constrains GHG emissions.
GE is a leading manufacturer of wind turbines, which receive all sorts of federal and state subsidies.
GE lobbied for and benefits from the light-bulb efficiency regulations that drive consumers to more expensive light bulbs.
On the state level, GE gets generous “incentives” (subsidies) from governments. Consider this Virginia case.
GE got $140 billion bailout from the FDIC in 2008.

I would like GE to explain why this isn’t corporatism or crony capitalism.

Yeah, me too.

Obama, GE, and Crony Capitalism

February 6, 2011

The “Tea Party” began its rumbling crescendo in the Bush years as he abandoned any pretense to “conservatism”, and blew into the open with the Bush-McCain-Obama-Pelosi bailouts for Wall Street, and got its name from Santinelli’s rant.

I avoided buying real estate like the plague when I got my chance because I saw what was coming. Why should my money or credit go to the pockets of the greedy poor who thought it would be so easy to pay theirs?

Or to the hustlers on Wall Street to keep their private jets?

They don’t mind people making money, they don’t like political bosses dividing the money as they see fit, and lying when they say it’s all for the poor and to save the world, “spread the wealth around” to their friends and favorites and paymasters.

What tea partiers hate includes lots of libs’ supposed hate list:

Corporate-government corruption, “crony” capitalism, government picking favorites for its money, and now this Big Corporate CEO trumps the competition, running a committee telling government how to spend money for things his business has big interests in.

“Government bailouts, lobbying for earmarks, aggressive support for cap-and-trade, lobbying for the expansion of government and run-ins with securities regulators are all part of Immelt’s legacy at GE.”

Dems and libs didn’t care one bit about earmarks till the tea partiers made it an issue. Schumer is caught on video saying “The American People just don’t care”.

James 2:5  Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
7  Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
8  ¶If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9  But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
