Antifa and neo-nazis

I have gone over again links to a “mainstream press” article about the Charlottesville events of 2017 and 2018.
I’ve already said that the rally in Charlottesville had many who carried symbols and implements of neo-Nazi persuasion. I’ve made clear that I despise them. It is also clear that they came prepared for trouble, in the sense that they expected trouble. Apparently I forgot (or missed) about the march the night before with the torches. Again, I thought we were both talking about the day of the confrontation itself, in any case. I still do not remember any mention of torches for the rally in the park.
Both sides were fighting but the biggest blame goes to the governor and the police on the scene. According to mostly left-wing politico Homeland Security warned them to expect major violence.

The Aug. 9 report by the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis was done in coordination with local, state and federal authorities at the Virginia Fusion Center. It stated that white supremacists and anti-fascist “antifa” extremists had clashed twice before in Charlottesville, at a white nationalist rally on May 13 and a Ku Klux Klan gathering July 7. At each event, “anarchist extremists” attacked protesters who had been issued permits, leading to fights, injuries, arrests and at least two felony charges of assault and battery.
