Manuel Zelaya: Eligible to lose Honduran citizenship

From the Constitution of Honduras:

ARTICULO 42.- La calidad de ciudadano se pierde:

1. Por prestar servicios en tiempo de guerra a enemigos de Honduras o de sus aliados;

2. Por prestar ayuda en contra del Estado de Honduras, a un extranjero o a un gobierno extranjero en cualquier reclamación diplomática o ante un tribunal internacional;

3. Por desempeñar en el país, sin licencia del Congreso Nacional, empleo de nación extranjera, del ramo militar o de carácter político;

4. Por coartar la libertad de sufragio, adulterar documentos electorales o emplear medios fraudulentos para burlar la voluntad popular;

Translated that’s:

Article 42…Citizenship is lost:

1. For lending services in time of war to enemies of Honduras or to their allies;

2.For aiding and abetting actions taken against the State of Honduras by a foreign citizen, or a foreign government, in any diplomatic claim, or before any international tribunal;

3. For engaging the services of a foreign nation in this country, of military or political character, without Congressional license;

4.For abridging the right of suffrage, for tampering with election documents, or eployment of fraudulent methods to defraud the will of the people;

5.For incitement, promotion or support in favor of “continuism”, or the re-election of President of the Republic;

6.for naturalized citizens, for residing more than two consecutive years outside the national borders, without prior authorization of the Executive Power.

In the case of points 1) and 2), the declaration of loss of citizenship will be made by the National Congress through a formal declaration detailing the relevant items. …In case of items 3) and 6), such proclamation will be enacted by the Executive Power in consultation with other government parties; likewise for items 4) and 5) following judgment to said effect by suitable tribunals.

What about folks, there’s what it says.

Now, almost the entire world has pretended to be more competent to interpret the Honduran laws and constitution –overnight– better than the Supreme Court of Honduras, the Congress of Honduras –elected by the same voters that had voted for Zelaya–, the Electoral Tribunal of Honduras, and 90 percent of the people of Honduras!

So, okay folks. It looks obvious to me that Manuel Zelaya has violated items 2, 3, 4, and 5 of this article, and is eligible to lose his citizenship.
