One misdiagnosed case, two misdiagnosed cases, fifty thousand misdiagnosed cases do not negate the existence of ADHD. Lots of disorders can not be
measured by a blood draw, MRI, X-Ray etc.. Thankfully those aren’t the only diagnostic tools that doctors have on hand. There are specific criteria that must be met for someone to be diagnosed with ADHD. It’s not as if some lazy, government drone, sees an energetic, undisciplined kid and forces pills down his throat.
— Yeah, sure, right. Specific criteria. I had listed the MAIN CRITERIA the United Nation‘s WHO itself lists for diagnosing ADHD. Here is a subset of those criteria, from a supportive site that promoted the diagnosis:
http://www.health.com/health/condition-article/0,,20252859,00.html 1. How often do you have difficulty getting things in order when you have to do a task that requires organization? 2. When you have a task that requires a lot of thought, how often do you avoid or delay getting started? 3. How often are you distracted by activity or noise around you? 4. How often do you leave your seat in meetings or other situations in which you are expected to remain seated? 5. How often do you feel restless or fidgety? 6. How often do you have difficulty waiting your turn in situations when turn taking is required?
My reaction to this was “So from the WHO, somebody who’s disorganized, procrastinates, works in a noisy environment, gets bored with boring meetings, and doesn’t like to wait in lines… is ADHD!” Let’s redo that without changing the meaning, but apply it to the younger set:
So from the W.H.O., some kid in a class who’s disorganized, procrastinates, is distracted by rowdy classmates, gets bored and fidgets with boring CLASSES (maybe he’s way ahead of his class), and really doesn’t like to wait in lines… is ADHD!
That is what falls out directly from from the list.. Now you can even check in with in the web site that serves as the government-mouthpiece misinformation spinmeisters, even as they say that the story that this doctor said it is a “just an invention”. While they title the piece “A Work of Fiction”, they still have to admit it is “partially true”. The doctor did say this, according to first-hand reports published months before the doctor’s death:
A tall, thin man with glasses and suspenders opened the door to his apartment in Harvard Square in 2009, invited me to the kitchen table, and poured coffee. He said that he never would have thought his discovery would someday become so popular. “ADHD is a prime example of a fabricated disorder,” Eisenberg said. “The genetic predisposition to ADHD is completely overrated.”
SPIEGEL: Experts speak of 5.4 million American children who display the symptoms typical of ADHD. Are you saying that this mental disorder is just an invention?
Kagan: That’s correct; it is an invention. Every child who’s not doing well in school is sent to see a pediatrician, and the pediatrician says: “It’s ADHD; here’s Ritalin.” In fact, 90 percent of these 5.4 million kids don’t have an abnormal dopamine metabolism. The problem is, if a drug is available to doctors, they’ll make the corresponding diagnosis.
Some people might not say it out loud, but this is how they think: “I know it’s true, because my government told me it’s true, and anything else is a conspiracy theory!”.
After all, can’t let the peasants find out that stopping runaway debt is a good thing!
In typical government-shill propaganda mode, ABC reporter said (or read) that “anger is growing across the nation” over the government slowdown. They then put on two sound bites from interviews supposedly with “the man on the street” (really?), that didn’t like it.
That was the morning. On the way home, there were so many callers on local talk shows that blasted the Obamacare law and cheered the cutting of funds that these local yokels (here on a couple of Miami, Florida stations) started begging people to call that actually liked it. Right after that, on the show where this gal who usually just reads the news, a guy called in who had lost his job because of Obamacare, along with nine other guys. Bet you everybody who isn’t a D.C. insider has a family member who’s been forced down to part-time jobs, too.
Of course there are lots more people who are mad about them forcing nationalized control of medicine against the will of the American people and who are angry at the ones who did it –and changed the rules to do it—and angry at what it’s doing. And THAT is the big news for two years now.
Lots of people are also mad at the Big Corporate news media for acting as government propaganda organs. And at local media guys who are saying they don’t like it either but “it’s the law” blah blah, as if the House has never defunded anything before.
Not for nothing the engineers of the US Constitution gave the House the responsibility of originating funding legislation. That’s because it most directly represents the people in local districts, and therefore are closest to the taxpayers.
The longer this goes on, the more that Americans will see that life goes on, and life goes on maybe even better, the world did not end, the economy did not crash.. And what’s better, Clapper is complaining that the NSA can’t spy on us like it wants to. Some IRS auditors have had to stop working (for the time being).
The big news of the day was that a bunch of WW2 veterans broke through a line of yellow tape to view their monument. So they don’t have enough money to keep this open-air monument “open”, but they have enough to send a bunch of cops to keep people out. Right.
By the way, the narrative that the Republicans are “holding the government hostage” is such a laugh riot. Anyway, they’re funding all kinds of stuff and sending the bills to the Senate, but IT IS HARRY REID who is refusing to let any of them through for a Senate vote. So who’s holding who hostage?
And Wall Street rejoiced with a rally! Hope that this train wreck might be stopped! People in the financial world maybe figure that this kibosh on runaway spending and this blocking move against dollar dilution is good! That this forcing on the emergency brake is good!
Maybe these RINO’s are just doing theater, though. The longer this slowdown keeps going, this time, Americans are going to blame the Democrat Party and Obamacare. It is an attack on the economy that al Qaeda could only dream of, that will do a million times more damage in infrastructure and lives than even crashing the towers.
No wonder Morsi and other dictators figure he’s on their side.
Next stop: End the Fed.
“Now, please show me how this works in creationism? As far as I can tell, the inadequacies of the creation hypothesis never get corrected.”
–I’ll bet for any “inadequacy” in Creation science you think you can “tell”, it’s been refuted ad infinitum.
Long-ages faith avoids dealing with
the absence of any “punctuated’ in their “punctuated equilibrium”,
with Isaac Newton‘s recognition that rational rules requires a rational Creator,
the fact that ALL the major areas of scientific study were initiated by young-Earth Creationists,
the total lack of fossil evidence for darwinism,
the anthropic principle,
the Goldilocks planet,
the long history of long-age theories shattered by discoveries,
the ubiquity of irreducible complexity in biological structures,
the utter lack of even a speculative hypothesis of how life could have ever evolved from non-life,
the appearance of sex in a spontaneous world,
the correct predictions of today’s creationists like Russ Humphreys,
the censorship of creationism in Establishment publications by Defenders of the Darwinian Faith,
red-shift anomalies by the dozens, catalogued by Halton Arp
evidence of light-speed slowing down in light from the stars, quoted by Joao Magueijo in “Faster than the Speed of Light”,
debates with equal-treatment rules with Creation scientists,
and last but not least, the very idea that the Intelligent Design theories might not be young-earth creationist.
and more last but not least, panic hits them at the very thought that creationism might be the truth.
Which is why the topic was selected in the first place, no doubt, somebody may have wanted to get a ridicule fest going, to strengthen his faith in the untenable.
As to schooling, the best thing is to let parents educate their own kids, or have them educated, as they see fit. Nobody has a higher moral right in this world to force anybody to pay to have their kids told the parents are wrong.
Statist Propaganda Media is fading, and some of the voices of lament from Old Media are that investigative journalism is going with it.
Not really. True that Old Media has left off doing much of it where it matters because they don’t want to step on their sister institutions in the government-media complex, or their dearly held statist doctrines learned in Journalism schools across the country. True, there are a few of the ones that fit Statist Media doctrines, but they don’t get much readership. People are getting wise to it.
I have a couple of examples.
Ben Swann Full Disclosure
One of the best is Ben Swann‘s presentations from Cincinnati, where he narrated the program “Reality Check”. He now has his own Internet channel. His flagship web site is Ben Swann Full Disclosure: http://benswann.com/ It’s not exactly just investigative journalism, but I mention it because he spreads the word on less-known but very important facts left out of news sources elsewhere, plus shares some significant insights into current events also not found elsewhere. In this way if fulfills what we expect from journalistic research, the digging up of facts that a few interests might want to otherwise keep a lid on.
In FrackNation journalist Phelim McAleer faces threats, cops and bogus lawsuits questioning green extremists for the truth about fracking. McAleer uncovers fracking facts suppressed by environmental activists, and he talks with rural Americans whose livelihoods are at risk if fracking is banned. Emotions run high but the truth runs deep.
FrackNation was made after Phelim McAleer confronted Gasland filmmaker
Josh Fox at a Q&A in Chicago. McAleer asked Fox about instances of water being lit on fire well before fracking occurred in America and why he didn’t include that information in Gasland. Fox said the information “wasn’t relevant.” McAleer disagreed and put their exchange on YouTube. Fox sued to have it removed. That’s when McAleer realized there was more to the story of fracking than Josh Fox was letting on.
FrackNation was funded by 3,305 backers on Kickstarter who generously donated $212,265 to have us investigate the truth about fracking. All funds from oil and gas companies or their executives were explicitly rejected. FrackNation is a film by the people, for the people.
This film FrackNation, supported by nickel-and-dime donations from “the little guy”, exposed the statist control-freak propaganda film “Gasland“, which did not need to go to Kickstarter for financing. Big giant corporate-financed non-profits with multi-billionaire hustlers like George Soros have plenty of funding for all kinds of central-planning propaganda.
(By the way, even environmentalism-loving science are saying Gasland is “science denial” and criticizing its content and the big-money connections of its maker Josh Fox is shown here:
He exposed the hypocrisy of the New York-area newspaper that published the names and addresses of gun owners in one of the counties that offered up the list without thinking.
Journalists and Politicians Refuse to Post Signs that declare their houses “Gun-free zone“:
No Intelligence Allowed
Another example is Ben Stein’s documentary, “No Intelligence Allowed”:
So now the Army, or someone involved with the case, publicizes Manning’s “gender-confused” past. It reminded me of the scenes in Orwell’s 1984 when dissidents and the independent-thinking were trotted onto the tube all repentant of their sins against the state, and how they now loved Dear Leader.
JUDGE WANTS TO SUPPRESS FREE EXPRESSION TO PUNISH FREE EXPRESSION
Now a judge has said gays can file suit for a pastor’s speech overseas:
PIPA, SOPA, CISPA, and they’re trying everything they can to create thought-crime laws and censorship. Funny, the judge is saying that maybe this pastor did try to “suppress free expression” by certain groups. So he’ll entertain a suit that demands he suppress the free expression of the defendant. Nobody said statists relied very much on logic.
FINALLY, THE GOVERNMENT CONFIRMS DECADES-OLD “TINFOIL HAT” CONSPIRACY THEORY
Yes, Area 51 actually exists! Now that everybody knows it anyway, the truth can finally be told.
Is anybody apologizing to the tinfoil hat crowd yet? Of course the CIA is saying it was for the training of pilots for the secret U-2 spy plane. Nothing else, I guess. Flights of secret aircraft in the sky, they are unidentified flying objects because the military brass refuses to identify them!
WILL THE STATIST MEDIA NOW ADMIT THEY EXIST?
National Black Republican Association E-News: Black American Citizens File Articles of Impeachment Against Obama:
SIGNS OFFERING AN EXIT FROM ISLAM ARE BANNED BY SHARIA, TOO, NOT JUST DETROIT
The Detroit transportation authority banned an ad that is not favorable to Islam, but the American Freedom Law Center (AFLC) is suing for freedom of speech:
This is the second time around for Detroit, too….
BUCHANAN: EGYPT’S ARMY CROSSES THE RUBICON
” Pat Buchanan: Perhaps lowering our profile and shutting up would be best approach”:
Me, I’m beginning to realize that not all cultures are ready to accept living peacefully with their neighbors, or even thinking independently. It’s hard enough for Americans in the past to do this with their tradition of small-r “republic” and free speech and the Bill of Rights. I intentionally did not say “democracy”.
THE NATIONAL BLACK REPUBLICAN ASSOCIATION ARE CALLING FOR OBAMA’S IMPEACHMENT
The NBRA (see their web site here) has posted a list of 10 articles of impeachment against Barack Obama, which you can see here:
OBAMA: WHAT ELSE WOULD AMERICANS SAY, MR. PRESIDENT?
Mr. “kill list” Obama says:
“I am comfortable that the program currently is not being abused. I’m comfortable that if the American people examined exactly what was taking place, how it was being used, what the safeguards were, that they would say, you know what, these folks are following the law and doing what they say they’re doing.”
Yeah, what else would they say, Mr. President? Your NSA now has the dirt on everybody. Now, they get to say, after the heavy chasing after reporters, confiscation of all the communications of all the citizens, brazenly searching through the emails of a hundred AP reporters, kill lists, drones… Who is going to dare you to come after them by blowing the whistle on you now? Another hero like Edward Snowden? We can only hope. Happens in the movies all the time, after all.
This makes Hillary’s Filegate scandal look like respect for the Constitution. Right. (Filegate refers to Hillary getting the FBI files on every member of Congress, yes, every one of them). But now, the feds (who’s running the show up there anyhow?) has the goods on ALL of us.
Hey, maybe there’ll be blowback like there was against Robespierre. The people in Congress may just wake up one day when they realize that going along with the program and taking them money is not going to save their behinds or their family’s either, and do something to force them to admit out loud that their real goal is to just make all their subjects bow down and obey.
Obama also said if Snowden thinks he is right he should come back and face justice and prove his case. Right. Yeah, right. Well now. We live in a country where any judge in the country could get a self-written warrant produced by a federal agent on the spot, one of those Patriot Act orders that makes it a felony for said judge to tell anybody about it.
Like the alien said to the Steve Guttenberg character in the movie Cocoon, “You don’t know who to trust.”
TAKING AIM AT CLUELESS BANKS
Jeff Knox says we should support the banks that keep doing business with firearms companies:
WHY WOULD A CFR ECONOMIST WHO DISDAINS THE “AUSTRIAN ECONOMICS” LABEL GET THE “2010 HAYEK BOOK PRIZE”?!
NANNY STATE ON STEROIDS, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COMING SOON TO YOUR HOME:
At Ben Swann’s new web site, another onerous and outrageous police state provision:
Yeah. Empowered to visit home-schooling families to prevent “hate teaching harmful to the kids”, maybe, they’ve said that before, or farms to make sure Cattle Rancher Jones isn’t “harming” his neighbors by selling them raw milk, you get the picture. These are things people have lost their kids over, and for the milk thing gone to prison over. Already. In America.
3-D IS ACCELERATING THE DESIGN PROCESS FOR NEW AUTO MODELS:
See the story here:
The article says they still aren’t good enough to “print” a whole vehicle, or all the pars to it:
This capability has sparked talk of “printed” cars, and while printing your ride might be an interesting demonstration of the technology’s maturity, it wouldn’t result in a car many people would want to drive. According to Lee Dockstader, vice president of business development for 3D Systems, the ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic body parts that can be printed would likely be non-structural items like fenders, hoods, trunk lids, and door skins, as opposed to frame rails, floor pans, and other components that need to be crash-absorbent. Furthermore, printed cars would be stylistically limited, because printed ABS plastic doesn’t allow for distinctive feature details like creases and lines.
But in another article I recently saw, metals have already been used with one 3D machine:
The Next Level of 3D printing. ” Researchers at North Carolina State University took the technology one step further with the discovery of a method for printing liquid metal (watch above)”:
And now, “The First Commercial 3D Printed Metal Gun Part”.:
Maybe it’s a sequel to “Blows Against the Empire”…
REPUBLICAN PARTY BOSSES HAVE VOTED AGAINST LETTING CNN OR NBC HOST 2016 DEBATES
Well, bully for them. Looks like CNN and NBC saw what was happening in the real world and that their obvious tilt toward “the left” was not helping anymore.
And Hillary “screwed the pooch” as the expression goes, with her role in Benghazi-gate, heading up the team that left Americans exposed there and then joined the push to lie to the public about a video. She had to know that the narrative was false. Looks like it was some low-level CIA analyst that contributed the false “video” blame, but the CIA quashed it lightning fast, but then the order came from –who??!– to put it back in. What is pretty clear is that the order came back to the CIA to blame the video anyway.
But there’s more than Bengazi waiting for a Hillary campaign. There’s Filegate (illegal suborning of FBI files ON Congressmen and other perceived adversaries), Whitewater, Travelgate, Chinagate, Vince Foster, the insider trading accusation on her commodities market killing, the push to shut up Juanita Broaderick, the mysterious missing Rose Law firm documents she could not find to answer a subpoena, “Hillary-care” (which was even more a blatant in-your-face nationalization of medical practice),
So maybe the cover story didn’t originate there anyway. Sometimes it helps to play a modified version of “Follow the Money”.
NBC says there’s no problem because NBC News is independent from NBC Entertainment. Oh yeah, right! And they both report to whom? They’re always saying there’s no bias, but who does the NBC News staff vote for?
To read a bit more detail about a few of those scandals, click here. Yeah, email-gate too, which should have also fallen under “obstruction of justice”.
I agree with Larry Klayman, her outburst at getting exposed for her own negligence and complicity with the attacks in Benghazi, when testifying before Congress, finally gave the public a slight glimpse of her character and demeanor that Washington insiders see and tell about.
She was madder than hell that anybody would want to know how and why Benghazi happened.
ROBERT DRAPER DOES GOOD COVER-UP ON LIBYA AS GUEST ON C-SPAN:
He interviewed with Libby Casey on C-Span, and I listened for most of it, and it begs for an answer and some corrections:
His answer to two callers who called him on his anti-Gaddafi tilt in his assessment of the rebellion and the rebels was that, as he says it, his reporting is based on what Libyans think. To that, I say “So what?” That’s what Walter Duranty said when he was asked why his New York Times reporting about Stalin was so glowing. Of course now we know there was no way he could have avoided knowing about all the atrocities. Just the murders of all his fellow comrades on the ruling committee with Lenin should have been a clue.
Today, of course, the New York Times does not talk about that.
A good study on mass propaganda is the media coverage on Libya and especially Gaddafi and the recent American-led and American-financed overthrow and murder of this irritant to world hegemony everywhere and danger number one of international central bankers with his plan for a pan-African gold-backed currency. Ukrainians are demanding that the pro-Stalin NYT reporter be stripped of his Pulitzer Prize. That’s another “prize” whose decision committees have dragged through the mud by trying to praise the worst of human animals among us who deserve no honoring at all.
Where are the antiwar protestors from the Vietnam War era on this? Well, many of us are still around. Some of us, like me,are still today against all these American wars, but many are now very silent with this kind of atrocity. American rulers are now using not only other peoples’ money (ours) to finance these illegal wars, but now, it’s also other nations people to do the dirty work.
One really big lie was what he told about Towarga. That was where the anti-Gaddafi rebels (now in power in Libya) totally wiped out an entire town of black folks, population 10,000. They were such determined Gaddafi loyalists and refused to join or support the rebellion and fought the takeover. But this deceitful reporter says he spoke with rebels from nearby Misratha, and of course they told him all kinds of bad things the Towargans did against the rebels. This turns out to be what a European reporter had said about what the rebels did to the Tawargans.
He says it’s because of what Gaddafi had promised the Tawargans they did these things, but wait a minute, he promised good things to everybody who would fight on his side.
Maybe there’s a good explanation for why he thinks the way he does. There are no more Tawargans left. Some few survivors might be too afraid to venture outside certain camps where they are kept.
Tawarga is a testament to what even this reporter admitted was among the good things he had to say about Gaddafi. He treated blacks better than any of the other Arab or Muslim leaders. He treated women magnificently, they were treated as equals in his government. This Robert Draper acknowledged this when a caller demanded whether he thought anything Gaddafi had done was good.
What he did leave out was that Gaddafi had stood before the Libyan parliament and had actually repented for his supporting of terrorism previous, and renouncing it for good, and demanding that Israel and Palestine make peace, and then invited the Western nations to come and take away all his nuclear weapons.
Let’s see YOU do that. Will Obama renounce clones, or the financing of hits on enemies or stop spying on Americans?
Here you’ll find a better report on what happened to Tamarga, and in fact, what is happening to blacks all across Libya:
Sure enough, if he would have spoken to some of the Tawargan survivors of the “cleansing” (their word) that the rebels had done, he would have gotten a different story.
But then again, maybe he did talk to some of them and isn’t telling.
Tawargans are demanding that NATO and the West is to blame for their plight and that they should therefore provide protection from them. Won’t hold my breath. Now wonder some Muslims think the West is waging another Crusade. Only the warmongers among us that do the sending are not Christians.
KLAYMAN’S CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST THE NSA AND THEIR BOSSES IN WASHINGTON
From the web page:
While James Rosen and Fox News did nothing wrong in reporting on North Korea, Obama and Biden both committed actual crimes in releasing classified information that resulted in the death of 22 SEAL Team 6 special ops forces and harmed U.S.-Israeli military operations and war plans concerning Iran. For this they both should be tried, convicted and thrown in prison.
Klayman has an interesting perspective on what he calls “Obama’s Mein Kampf”, meaning Obama’s press conference where he tried to spin around the Massive Surveillance State:
None of that “See nothing, hear nothing, know nothing” stuff. In Washington it’s “Total Information Awareness” (search it): “See everything, hear everything, know everything”.
Dig this bit:
Ironically though, by raising the defenses of “phony scandals” and his alleged attempts to reform “intelligence” gathering by the NSA, and create more so-called safeguards for the American people, Obama underscores the hard reality that he has been using and intends to continue using our intelligence services to obtain information to coerce and blackmail the citizenry into pliant submission.
Indeed, during the Clinton years, while Bill and Hillary vociferously disclaimed any role in the deaths of more than 80 key witnesses and others with some involvement in their myriad of scandals, they were happy to have their henchmen leave a list of these dead persons on the office chairs of inconveniently “alive” witnesses like Linda Tripp and other White House whistleblowers, who had the goods on their various crimes. On a smaller scale than Obama’s unbridled massive abuse of government power, this was a not-too-subtle attempt to intimidate and silence them from spilling the beans and providing evidence to send the Clintons to prison, which is where they belong. Outrageously, today, 13 years since the Clintons left the White House, we, the more than 300 million Americans whose confidential communications have been violated by this Muslim megalomaniac, are now the hands-on witnesses of Obama’s attempt to rule and transform the nation as he alone sees fit – by fear. And, we, the American people, are in danger.
But despite last Friday’s dog-and-pony show, We the People increasingly can no longer be fooled.
A growing number of patriots – white and black – people of faith, Christians, Jews and concerned citizens are in the process of waking up from their long slumber of the last five years in particular. We are no longer willing to be made to feel ashamed of our heritage and who we are and are thus losing our sense of guilt that Obama and his ilk have tried to instill upon us, and are preparing to legally fight back.
MORE HILLARY SKELETONS:
She was fired from the Nixon impeachment committee in Congress:
Let me help with understanding what I’m going to say here. First off, I had once gone from Marxist/Communist to syndicalist-anarchist (something like the “anarcho-communist” idea) precisely because I couldn’t trust people to govern themselves. My reasoning back then articulated like this: if you can’t trust people to govern themselves, you can’t trust them to govern other people. About that time I became a missionary, more concerned for the poor than ever, and all people that needed the truth.
So let’s see:
Q (Question or Comment): With no government than anyone (or group) who has more than others can buy more armed security to enforce their will on those who have less resources. There is nothing to stop bad guys from forming coalitions to gang up on smaller communities and take them over by force since there is no governmental power to stop them.
A: The Second Amendment debate should bring to clarity the principle that self-defense is much more effective than giving up your freedom –even some of it– in exchange for security. Give ‘em an inch, they take a mile. Like Ron Paul said, the only legitimate purpose of any government is to protect its jurisdiction from violation of individual rights.
The problem is that you are trusting a band of strangers with protecting you from other bands of strangers. If it’s a “government”, however, you get protection the same way you get protection from a “Mafia”. If you pay, you get some protection –often not very good because who else can you call, so it is with monopolies– and you get to keep both your legs. Unless one of the rulers needs one.
Q If one does not want to use the term “mercenary” they can invent whatever euphemism they wish and call it a third party mechanism…
A-Euphemisms like “government”, except that’s involuntarily imposed force. And just like with the Army “volunteers”, many “mercenaries” are driven by other than monetary considerations. In self-defense, many of the “volunteers” will be just like the revolutionary militia, and today’s independent militias, people defending their lives, their families, their own children, like the independent militias that Mexicans are now forming to defend themselves against the gangs. Like some citizens of Detroit who have armed themselves for protection, because the police force are now useless. Precisely because under the “democratic-republican” Detroit government not everybody played fair. Especially the elected legislators and executives, and now even the judges are ordering the city to stiff the creditors that trusted them and pay the taxation without representation that previous city officials and unions colluded to burden them with.
Q The fact is they fight for money and not principle and can be paid off by your enemies.
A [Ed-Like moles, or governments of corrupt sellouts like in Congress. The fact is, all of us have wrong reasons we do many right things. This
thought also ignores the fact that giving you good service for
your money is a principle worth more than money. Protecting
people is a good career. It is the first early motivation of
may policemen, in fact, who make a career of it, paid for
their services. Yet the very police is who we are talking
about. If they were more directly beholden to the people they
ahem, “serve”, we would have much less abuse and corruption in
A In a democratic republic you are free to hire your own self
defense so there is no denial of freedom.
A [Ed-Unless you have to defend
yourself against that government. Try buying raw milk in a
co-op and get arrested in the “Republic” of California.
Q One is free to dream that they can provide their own security on
either a personal or community basis against any threat but they
are assuming everyone else will play fair and continue to ignore
the myriad of scenarios that can develop in a world without
A-No assumptions at all except that all central planning scenarios come with all those flaws built in.
Who really believes they can defend against a foreign invasion
with an army of locally hired of rent a cops thrown together by
few communities who decide they will participate?
A- The farmboy revolutionaries that defended the USA against British attacks are an excellent example. A rag-tag band of “backward” mountain men are
defeating the most powerful Army in the whole world as we speak. Bill Maher said once that the Second Amendment is moot because the government has tanks. Tell that to the Taliban. The militias in Iraq say Phooey too.
Otherwise, why would our own “democratic republic” government
of the USA have such a fanatical fixation on disarming the
entire civilian population?
Government can become oppressive. True. People with no government can also form groups and become oppressive. Also true. The fact that anyone can be corrupted is hardly a case for ” no more rules”. It seems better time would be spent working on small government within a republican ( small “r”) model following constitutional principles.
A – Who said “No more rules”. That’s a straw man argument. The rule that counts more than any other should be the “non-aggression principle“. See:http://wiki.mises.org/wiki/Principle_of_non-aggression
Someone who does not believe in government of any kind has no reason to quote the Bill of Rights since without a government to enforce it, it is just a piece of paper.
A – I quote the Bill of Rights because they actually support the position, because if you read them properly, they are not grants of privilege by government, but they are declarations of what are universally held rights in the sense articulated in the Declaration of Independence as “unalienable”. It was a compromise demanded by patriots that did not want a strong federal government. But as we can see from events and history in the real world, if you disqualify my arguments on that basis, yours are disqualified by the proof in the real world that your very government is ruled by that Constitution as “the Supreme Law of the Land“, but that very same government has broken almost every one and in the most massive scale possible:
The First: “Free-speech zones“
Second: Gun control laws. Supreme Court legalized “reasonable” infringement legislation. In New Orleans the police went door-to-door confiscating arms without warrants or due process at all. The first gun control laws in the U.S. were Jim Crow-motivated laws meant to prevent even free blacks from owning them.
Third: To my knowledge, the military has not commandeered quarters in any house, even as “prescribed by law”.
Fourth: Recent revelations by Edward Snowden and the brave reporters of The Guardian have exposed the blatant and still now unrepentant violation of the right of the people “to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects” in the unconstitutional seizure of the “effects” of EVERY ONE of the regime’s subjects in the United States. Having been exposed, they say “So what? It’s to keep you safe from bad guys”. The Fourth also says must have a warrant –from a genuine independent court, not a kangaroo court, and not a self-written– naming the person and things to be seized. And there’s nothing about allowing the right to a censorship on the target of such a warrant, as we now face with the Patriot Act. A librarian was charged with a felony for just showing one of these warrants to an assistant.
Fifth: They had this guy in Boston how many hours? As soon as he knew his rights he shut up. But the same Justice Department that was so worried the FBI might find out something from this violation of rights is the one that violates every American’s “Fourth Amendment” right all day every day.
Sixth: Speedy trail, confrontation of witnesses: Not just the rubber-stamp FISA courts (NSA director: You can’t lie to us anymore, we all know they’re kangaroo, else they would not approve the unconstitutional requests for blanket coverage, seizure of all those records). There is the case of the U Florida professor arrested (and convicted? deported?) based on what the government called secret evidence that they could not even show the judge in the case.
Seventh: The president, we now know, issues regular kill orders against anybody he wants to. Rand Paul forced the Attorney General to admit the government has no legal authority at least to kill Americans on American soil if there is no imminent danger, but the history of lies and conviction for Contempt of Congress shows we cannot trust their word. Not to mention executing acts of war (like drone attacks overseas) without the constitutionally required declaration of war by Congress.
Eighth (Cruel and Unusual Punishment): Now the president who as candidate opposed the interrogation techniques used at Guantanamo, now defends them as necessary. Nothing like a political campaign to bring out the liar in the worst characters. (Not to mention that the nests of rape, murder, assaults on prisoners convicted for non-violent offenses themselves, in my opinion, themselves constitute cruel and unusual punishment.)
Ninth: Ha, the Congress over the last twenty years, with the happy cooperation of the worst of the bankers, has violated every other natural right that got in their corrupt way, including that of property, with the Fed, the New Deal, The Great Society, the right to free trade and free exchange of goods and services.
Tenth: Of course the Congress has used the carrot-stick approach and a blatantly unconstitutional perversion of the interstate commerce clause to entice and coerce the states to doing things that were not in the jurisdiction of the federal Congress to influence. Holder tried a pathetic attempt to stop the flood of states declaring it illegal for anyone to cooperate with federal officials in violations of the Second Amendment. Holder used the “supreme law of the land” argument, by which he meant that the federal government has a “right” under the “supreme law” clause to become a dictatorship whenever it feels like it.
So yes, in the real world, I believe using the Constitution is a good way to educate the people, and by golly, if we can agree to push at least for respect and obedience to the US Constitution, that would be better than the present condition by astronomical scales.
Use your brains guys! Edward Snowden knows exactly what happened to Bradley Manning and nobody can blame him for seeking asylum. He’s already been charged under the Espionage Act. Obama has charged twice as many whistleblowers (and a couple of real traitors thrown in) under the Espionage Act.
He didn’t sell the secrets, he gave them to a news outlet. You guys complain about the “liberal media” and so do I, but all of a sudden they are the most Patriot-Act-loving Obama admin-sycophants ever! DO NOT BE THEIR DUPES!
If there is some kind of orchestration going on by the Powers that Be, Obama & Company, or leftists, or whatever, it is getting “conservative leaders” to line up in favor of the very same Police State crackdowns that will hit THEM FIRST!
You think it was just an Obama thing or a Dem-Party thing to stop the Tea Party and Patriot and Christian groups’ IRS applications?? Heck no! The Republican Party mucky-mucks like Rove and Romney and other of their club, they HATE the tea party movement and they HATE the grassroots’ move toward conservative and libertarian principles. They proved it at the national convention! You think it was just the Ron Paul supporters? Hah! Remember, even Santorum‘s diehard supporters were upset at it, even Rush Limbaugh for gosh sake!
They are going to use that Surveillance to fish for things they can use against genuine grassroots conservatives and any economic or power base that congeals to fight the attack on US sovereignty and against individual freedoms in this country!
