D. James Kennedy(*) did a program once around “St. Patrick’s Day”. He said the Pope had to “send an army” to subjugate the Irish to Papal hegemony. (as late as the 10th or 11th century?). (And maybe more than once?)

* — I have significant differences with him on many things he said theologically, and some of his political viewpoints. In his favor, when he spoke in one program about war, during the Afghan and Iraq invasions, it seemed like he deliberately avoided even the appearance of endorse that war, but did talk a lot about St. Augustine’s theories about justifiable war.

“How the Irish Saved Civilization” also told about the years following Patrick’s ministry in Ireland. In those years, he tells us, there arose “convents” all around the island, with men, women, families, babies and all living communally, and often the guide, or leader, of the group was female. (“..There is no male nor female.. in Christ Jesus..”, spiritual equals but individuals).

By the way, Thomas Cahill also wrote about Patrick’s blast at the British clergy for their silence before the slave traders. Born a Brit, but having “become all things to all men”, Patrick wrote to in a scathing letter bishop, “Is it our fault we are born Irish?”.

In a famous prayer by Patrick, also, it was all Jesus and no other intercessor. “Jesus in me, Jesus above me, Jesus around me…..”

Cahill went easy on the Catholic version by saying it was just a matter of one meeting where “our apostle” (Peter) “can beat up your apostle” (Patrick) that brought them into Papal rule. This is evidence also that they were independent.

Will robots put most people out of work?

July 21, 2014

You cannot possibly know that the only “niche” open will be “banditry” for buggy whip makers when buggy whip making is made obsolete by technology. Buggy whip makers found work at Ford Motor Company and in other places.

Some technology advances (robotics) scare many otherwise smart thinking people into thinking unemployment will rise, as in the referenced article.

For example, before technology T1 was adapted, say, n1 full time persons were required to produce product P1, and after T1 was adapted, n2 full time persons.

This does not happen in a vaccuum. n1 is greater than n2. The cost of n2 is less than n1.

But now n3 = n2 – n1 persons are now available to competitors, including new competitors, plus it is safe to assume that in most situations and generalizing here for the concept, there is now more competition for jobs that produce P1, which drives down the cost of P1.

With the consumer price of P1 lower than before, either (1) demand will usually go up for the product, or (2) consumers will buy other consumer goods.

So either (1) we must adjust n3 in the real world (job losses) upward, meaning there are fewer jobs lost due to technology T1, or (2) there is more “purchasing power” available for other products P2, P3, P4, etc., or (3) there is more leisure time for the producers, or (4) most probably, all of the above. Also, technology T1 may also require new jobs in both its production and/or consumption.

The changes that came with computing advances should kill this idea about robots leaving great masses of people unemployed. In the 1930s the biggest companies had multiple floors of accounting specialists and clerks using calculators all day to do the accounting for the company. In the late 1940s or early 1950s the CEO of IBM was still saying only three or four organizations in the world would ever need a computer. Microsoft CEO Bill Gates once said that people would never find much use for the Internet.

And yet we did not have great masses of former accountants and clerks on the street when computers automated so much of the accounting process. It rather enabled all kinds of new specializations in all kinds of industries, created an entire new information industry for both business and consumers, and made life easier in general. For the unskilled and uneducated included. The poorest barrios in one of the still poorest countries of Latin America have smart phones in at least one home every block.

The same will hold with robotics. We cannot have any idea how it will sort out. If 3-D technology is not crimped with stupid government interference, there will be a lot more people able to do some home-based manufacturing services, just for an example. IF.

But government interfering with the readjustment does not help, and that includes government-directed retraining. Let the market pull the resources to where the new demand will go, and let private investors take the risk instead of wasting economic resources for government middlemen and idlers. Those resources belong at private risk, no cost to you.

Is there religious persecution in the US?

July 20, 2014

Some people are still laughing in the United States at the idea that there is persecution against Christians in this country, because the Establishment Government Lapdog Media they go to for their news blacklists it. From news reports from recent years:

(1) Pro-lifers put in prison and with a record for speaking in public.

(2) A creationist in prison on tax charges because the judge censored the grounds for the defense, and because a state-loving envious Pensacola Bible College official denounced him (We pay Caesar, why not him?).

(3) Laws against street preaching.

(4) Lawsuit during Clinton years to rob a church of funds donated as tithe by a couple that declared bankruptcy.

(5) Constant IRS demands to audit Christian organizations, even when there is no statutory authority. For which reason the Billy Graham organization refused.

(6) Recognizing the attack against religious conviction in exemptions for “religious organizations” while refusing to exempt individuals.

Obamacare is only one case, where the dictates from H.H.S. “compromised” by exempting “religious organizations” but only ones with a majority of employees who are also members. Although done for propaganda and tactical reasons, it is a de facto recognition of a “legitimate” religious right by the government. But individuals are still disallowed. The Bill of Rights is a list of negative individual rights, not collectives-only rights.

–It’s equivalent to an establishment of the “exempted” religious organizations, in which a burden falls on individuals that does not hit artificial state-recognized groups.

(7) After Waco, nobody can even quote Paul to say “Ye have not yet resisted unto blood”. It was not a mainstream “sect”, but it was a brazen and violent aggressive attack on religious freedom.

(8) After the raids on a peaceful community in west Texas during which children were cut off from their families and phones confiscated, and all the children yanked away from their parents with all that trauma, on the basis of what we know was probably a bogus complaint, and the social workers were not able to get even one complaint of abuse from the children about their parents even after they confiscated phones and cut off all communications between the children and mothers, even after weeks of haranguing at them!

And the amazing thing that should shock us all is that nobody charged those abusive Texas authorities with criminal child abuse!

So we haven’t reached persecution in the scale of mass executions of Christians and probably other freedom-minded folks,  which may or may not be televised or censored.

But we are definitely already at the stage where “First they came for the Polygamist cult..” as quoted in the Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came_…

And to talk like it’s some preposterous idea in the illusory America, let’s add another from history:

(9) The Mormons were hounded out of state after state, with laws passed by legislatures specifically aimed at their unorthodox practices that harmed no one outside of themselves; their founder was arrested and then shot in cold blood by a mob whipped into a frenzy in Iowa; and after they settled in the remote areas now known as Utah, the government sent the Army to threaten them into changing their doctrines.

(10) Suppression of the best defense evidence in the trial of well-known Christians, such as Jim Bakker

(11) In the raid on the Northeast Kingdom Community Church in Vermont, the judge issued a scathing rebuke against the state and the government operatives found no evidence at all in the children of the accusations of child abuse after a raid in which they stole away the children:

http://www.nytimes.com/1984/07/11/us/sect-parents-in-heated-town-meeting.html

One comment from a parental victim: “What? Our children are ‘culturally deprived’ because they don’t watch Mickey Mouse?’ Come on, guys!

See, when the apologists for government indoctrination centers talk about home-schooled kids missing out on being properly “socialized”, they really mean socialized into the way THEY want them to be.

And they always say it’s “for the children”.

July 19, 2014

There was a comment on this web page that provoked my reaction below:

http://www.thedailybell.com/news-analysis/35488/Illiterate-Twofer-Rise-of-Robots-Demands-Universal-Basic-Income/

Daily Bell wrote a good criticism of Reuter’s article wailing that technology will make most people unemployed and promoting a universal minimum guaranteed income. Jon said he was a computer programmer who had had a job writing software that eliminated thousands of jobs.

What Jon doesn’t consider is what happened outside the view from his cubicle. I’m a computer programmer myself, and my work reduces man-hours and waste. If you view the conditions before from the perspective of after, that’s how you see it. Waste eliminated by automation and computation. (Of course consider now that depending on the industry, up to half of programmer-hours spent in “compliance” coding to satisfy government dictates).

When it gets to the other end of technology, one thing I haven’t seen discussed is the fact we can deduce from human nature that it will greatly expand the (absolute) return available for investors with capital. Think guys in garages with 3-D printers, “doing” the tedious boring stuff on waiting the product his neighbor wants. Sophisticated 3-D programming will enable a sophisticated user of it (and low-entry entrepreneur) do custom tricks with the products for his customers.

Digital technology advances did not just eliminate the jobs in factory settings for making vinyl albums, it enabled many more consumers to get much more of the “entertainment” they wanted, AND LOOKY THERE it also created a LOT more “music studios”. My son built up his savings from playing gigs and invested in more musical equipment he rented out, and then built up his own studio in Miami Beach using tools of the trade that were available to him because some programmer somewhere at some time had robbed the vinyl industry of thousands of jobs.

That’s a high school dropout (the government school fare bored him and his brother out of their heads so I let them quit) that did that. He built that! With the help of modern technology.

He had the advantage of years of home schooling first, but it just showed that this technology scare is just another excuse they’re trying out on the plebes and peasants to continue centralizing control and making their plunder complete.

More robots for less investment means more people who have enough to invest in it. If you eliminate government force, the result will be a lot more producers and production and more people who have the means to acquire the resulting consumer goods. And services.

AND BY THE WAY. Everybody seems to forget that more production, in general, as long as free trade is free, Biblical Christians will have the means to fulfill their mission of helping the poor and orphans. (Fake Christians and pious warmongers do not count).

Ron Paul talks sense on “border crisis”

July 17, 2014

Ron Paul talks clarity to the “border crisis”:

http://www.thedailybell.com/editorials/35474/Ron-Paul-Whats-Missing-in-the-Current-Immigration-Crisis-Debate/

My wife is from Honduras, and I know from experience of relatives that the coyotes have known that the Border Patrol treats minors very differently from the younger ones. The cover story of coyotes pushing lies about it are wrong. Why would they change?

Rumor has a strong effect down there, especially when it comes to stories about immigrating to the US.

But they also get the news reports down there, and USA treatment of incoming bodies from southward is always big news. So they have heard all last year the noise from Congress (Dems AND Repubs of course talking about “paths to citizenship”), and this year about Obama announcing unilaterally he’s going to stop deporting people, they hear it. (News flash: Obama has maybe deported more than previous presidents back to Honduras and presumably other countries). So they’ve paid more attention.

They already knew minors are treated well when they show up, especially unaccompanied.

BUT these “children” are about 90 percent 15 to 17 years old, and about 90 or 93 percent of those are males, according to one report. But that only confirmed my suspicions. It’s said they’re fleeing the gang violence, and for many that may be so, but there may be more than that.

Thanks Ron Paul. He’s absolutely right. The drug wars are killing the country. It’s called “murder capital” and some of it is gangs, but maybe even most of it is rivals in the drug wars. The best kind of “foreign aid” the USA can “give” to Honduras is to stop the drug wars altogether, and for the sake of the poor, stop giving money to the governments for this and that, especially these onerous “loans”.

IRONY: Joe Biden went down there to demand that Central American countries control their borders. Get it? But Honduras already controls the minors leaving at border stations. Central American nations have an agreement to allow free movement of their citizens within the group. On paper anyway. (But really, Honduras doesn’t let just any Nicaraguan walk across.) BUT minors have to get permission from the father to leave the country in a legal document, unless the mother gets complete legal guardianship (“custody” as we call it).

Biden to Central America: Control Your Borders!

July 12, 2014
The US is acting like the arrogant bully that (somebody) promised would stop. Only now it’s “under the radar”, by which I mean that (somehow) all these things that add up to (something).
I am 110 percent in favor of all the “richer” countries cutting off 100 percent of ALL government-to-government aid to other countries, and that includes government-to-NGO’s. Almost all the international NGOs are the ones that are favored by the political powers; some are not; maybe they’re “tokens”.
“Foreign aid”, like Ron Paul said, “robs the poor in rich countries to give to the rich in the poor countries”. And it makes the politicians in recipient countries beholden to the political powers in “donor” countries instead of to their own citizens. So said the well-known economist from Zambia, Dambisa Moyo.
I told my Honduran wife “Great!” when they told me Orlando was in Brazil instead of meeting with the US VP. The Yanks summoned Central America to control their borders! Let that sink in for a minute! Biden, the Yanks VP, told the Presidents of Guatemala, El Salvador and the Honduras representatives to control their borders!?
There’s *always* something more to stories like this. Official spokespersons are saying it’s coyotes spreading this word in Central America, but they’ve known for *many* years that children get across the border easily.  So what is it the “journalists” are not saying?
Another thing the old traditional news sources are not reporting is that something like 90 percent of these “children” and “minors” are 15 to 17 years of age. The reports on Corporate Media say that that they are fleeing violence in Central America. For some of them, especially those rushing to join parents up north, that may be true. But remember what Castro did with his prison population during the Mariel boat-lift?
No little hatchlings these. And like my wife told me Orlando said, if parents are sending the younger children with coyotes who not only routinely rape and abuse them, they do it as a routine.
The best thing the United States can do first for Honduras is (1) immediately stop “helping” them, especially the government (leave it to people who care about the poor) and (2) immediately cease the drug wars, both here and there.  (3) And after that, stop trying to tell everybody what they have to do. And most important of all (4) Buy! Their! Products!
For (1),  you can’t say you’re helping the poor by demanding governments do it. Governments have to steal the money from lots of people (you and me, but never he!) that otherwise would use it to actually help the poor. Especially the kids. Recent numbers showed that child abuse is *eight times higher* for children in government custody than for kids who live with their parents. Even the usual mouths on Disappearing Dinosaur Networks are trying to tell the anti-immigration protestors that “we” (in the U.S.) have to help these kids because they’re living as many as 100 with one toilet, some are getting raped, etc., etc.
She did NOT mean herself in the “we” because she was talking about the government, not herself. Glenn Beck is taking supplies to the kids. One of the problems is that the USG (US GOvernment) is not allowing anybody to talk to any of the kids, even US Congressmen, and prohibits all recording devices including all cell phones, smart phones or not for the VIPs that are allowed to visit.
I’m glad that “God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man seweth that shall he also reap.” And that it is never too late to do the right thing from this point on

Taxes, Romans, and Romans 13

June 29, 2014

Romans 13 is a requirement for governments, not just subjects.

I think it was meant in the sense of Psalm 75:7:
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Psalm 75:7
David prayed for protection against his enemies, even at the same time he was acknowledging that they are “thy servants”. God said Nebuccadnezzar was “my servant” to serve his purposes, not that ever law he promulgated was just.

Also, Paul was speaking in the present verb tense at the time of writing it, and apparently as a guideline. But note that Peter and John told the Sanhedrin they had to obey God and not man, and note too that Paul was later beheaded by the emperor, the state authorities, Peter was crucified, and John was boiled in oil and exiled.

And Jesus told the disciples to pay the taxes demanded (the Bible uses the more accurate term “tribute”, an extortion), not for some spiritual reason, but “lest we offend them”. Meaning pay the tax to keep them off your back so you can continue to do God’s work. And he did NOT pay that tax until he had to.

And lest we forget, remember what he did with the cheating, thieving, false-balance money changers. Where do you think Andrew Jackson got his epithet when he vetoed the central bank?

June 21, 2014

The laws of Moses did not establish any rulers at all. In fact rulers were illegal  by “Thou shalt not steal”. “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Those who had to put up their properties to fulfill a debt recovered the property about every fifty years. But there was no lack of rules, most of them meant to benefit the obedient. When they began disobeying those rules was when other surrounding kings conquered them.

They did not need a standing army. When some enemy forced tribute and eliminated the blacksmiths by law so they could not make swords, some farmer (they were almost all farmers) would get a “call”, like Gideon and several more. They would then call for volunteers, form an army, and drive out the oppressors. This lasted several hundred years after they occupied the land until a generation came that demanded a king.

With a king, they had a ruler, and most of them treated the rules the same way as today’s presidents. They ruled like monarchs. One king even destroyed all the copies of the “rulebook” he could find in all the land. Later on, a priest discovered the rulebook during the rebuilding of the temple, hidden in a wall. The king proclaimed the rulebook again. Such is the fate of all kingdoms and rulers. (Gotta quote it: God setteth up one and putteth down another”, or the atheist version, “Kings and empires come and go.”)

Today we get Doublespeak interpretations from our rulers. Instead of trying to destroy all the rulebook copies they are trying to fool us with counterfeits.

Lincoln did not end slavery, nor was that his intention. He ordered cold-blooded murder on draft protestors, had reporters jailed for writing against that war, he ordered the enslavement of tens of thousands with conscription, the most odious enslavement because it orders you to kill and put your life in the gravest danger.

The “people of the Prince that shall come” of Daniel 9 have been preparing the ground for centuries for the plans to have their one lord over all. Just like it is now, slavery was their excuse for a moral cover for themselves.

Greenbacks. Turning the federal government into a national government. Increase national power over all the locals north and south. Truncate the northern secession movements by taking their best recruitment tool from them. The FEDERAL military services remained segregated but unequal until Truman began integrating them after WWII as part of their strategy to confuse the vote.

England was big traders with the South, but the “secret bankers” were playing both sides, AS ALWAYS. I’ve spoken with people in families of power south of the border, and the powerful players always contribute to all political players that might come into some power. The best-paid politicians are complaining about money buying elections, while taking money from Big Money Changers.

Nationalizing and centralizing political control nationalized all the conversations, so here comes Jekyll Island and the Federal Reserve Act. Adios freedom.

Powers That Be: While they send us to oblivion, where is their own Shangrila?

June 21, 2014

The Powers That Be think they have their own Galt’s Gulch things going. They have something going somewhere, secret fortresses. Remember Shangri-la? That’s an old idea they have going among themselves, looks like to me. Good entertainment story for the masses, coupled with plans communications to their brothers-in-arms. Help socialism along instead of educating the masses, send out pirates and steal stuff from supposedly bad guys, set up your own protection. Wait for society to collapse, and then they’ll come begging somebody to tell them what to do. That’s the story.

They’re already using different words for the same things they’ve done before. They don’t call it a “dictatorship of the proletariat” anymore. Because everybody knows the Soviet Union (now North Korea) was a dictatorship of the party bosses. We have the same thing, party bosses decide, but now we call it “democracy”. Rigged elections in LEFTIST dictatorships let these mini-Stalins claim they’re “democratic”. Confuse the public. Now the public thinks “democracy” is “loot for the masses”.
