Maduro caled for peace in Venezuela? Really? Maduro?

April 6, 2014

This is an open letter to Jacob Hornberger of the Future of Freedom Foundation, in reaction to his article of April 5, 2014, at http://www.lewrockwell.com. I am copying it to my blog at http://www.trutherator.wordpress.com.

His article is found here:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/2014/04/jacob-hornberger/us-out-of-venezuela/

Mr. Hornberger,

I’m an anarcho-capitalist that found out with Ron Paul’s campaign in 2008 that my 40-year-old views had lined up with what are called “libertarian”, and as a former missionary that lived since early 1970s in Latin America or in Hispanic-dominated Miami-Dade Count. My ex-wife is from the Dominican Republic and my wife is from Honduras. I plan on retiring in Honduras. I hope it will not be overwhelmed by a socialist regime such as Maduro’s. What they have today would be better, but I hope to add to the libertarian conversation in Honduras.

I have a personal interest against USG and UN interventions around the world. Foreign aid and drug wars are killing men in great numbers in my wife’s country -and killing their economy. Maybe the new special economic regions, designed artfully with the help of some libertarian economists from the US and from the Mises-associated institute in Guatemala will help them. I hope.

No doubt the CIA is around somewhere doing whatever they do, and let us be honest here: Neither of us knows what they are really doing, except in general terms. I used to think we could presume they consistently support American capitalist interests. After Honduras, Libya, Syria, with the evidence from these episodes of the USG helping socialist dictators and its purported Number One enemy to gain power in these places, I’m not so sure. Honduras I know best; and they did not hide their efforts to support the socialist dictator there.

I am surprised and a bit irritated at the reaction to regimes like Maduros’. Especially since I read it on http://www.lewrockwell.com.

Before I get to why, I totally agree with your concluding paragraph:

Leave Venezuela to the Venezuelans. If private Americans wish to involve themselves in the controversy, that’s fine. But the U.S. government should butt out entirely. What happens in Venezuela is none of the U.S. government’s business. Unfortunately, given the secret nature of the U.S. national-security state, the American people will never know the extent of U.S. involvement in the Venezuelan crisis until the CIA’s files on the matter are opened several decades from now.

Maybe they’ll open the files, maybe not, but I doubt that any files that will be available either now or later will reveal anything on the subject worthwhile, and more likely misleading.

But it is an amazing spectacle to see all the well-deserved condemnation of probable USG involvement, and absolutely nothing about what the Venezuelans might actually want in reality independently of both the American government and their own dictatorship.

I don’t remember any such outrage over Obama’s demands and Hillary Clinton’s interventions in Honduras to try to force them to put the socialist dictator Manuel Zelaya.

The American ambassador to Honduras at the time, Hugo Llorens, made an appearance in a commercial aired by the Zelaya regime, propaganda to get public support for his very unpopular effort for his so-called “referendum” (later relabeled “survey”).

Hillary Clinton made a personal call to Roberto Micheletti to resign, which would of course make it easier to force Honduras to take Zelaya back as the dictator he already was.

This “referendum” horrified Hondurans, because they knew three things for sure. (1) One, the thing would be fraudulent. They know their politicians. (2) Two, Zelaya had already advocated presidential re-election (already defined as “treason” by the Honduras constitution because of earlier attempts at lifetime presidencies. (3) Three, and worst of all, it would open up for more fraudulent “elections” to create an irrevocable socialist dictatorship, Chavez style, in Honduras.

There was one piece that circulated on the Internet at the time, how Zelaya “brought the country together”. Every group of any significance at all in those days demanded first his resignation and then supported his removal and the constitutional successor government of Micheletti. Half the population filled the plazas of the biggest and the smallest cities and villages to say so. The Chambers of Commerce, BOTH major political parties, ALL the Congress (elected by the same people that voted for president), the Catholic Church (Zelaya’s mob had to import a priest), all the Protestant churches, all the unions (except the hopeless teachers’ union, that had them on strike more than in the classroom literally by count of days– for the previous three years), and EVERY ex-pat in a forum where I was member.

What’s the CIA going to do there? What can they do? Why would they waste a dime getting the country to get rid of somebody they did not want?

Oh, yeah, because Soros wants power. But no doubt HIS dirty hands were in the pot FOR Zelaya. Keynote speaker at the regional summit the November previous.

Hondurans got panicked at the prospect of fixed elections creating another Cuba or Venezuela in their country. They vote with their feet by getting to the States at the first opportunity.

Why is it so hard to understand that so many Hondurans, or even Venezuelans, hate the serfdom of socialism, along with the miserable poverty it brings?

Maduro bragged in his op-ed in the New York Times about universal health care? Oh get out! The poor have to bring their own sheets into hospitals and sleep on the floor there! We’re already getting our own taste of that bitter poisonous “medicine” in the States!

That was the attitude of most of the Hondurans. Fortunately for them, apparently many or most of the richest and most powerful interests were inclined their way. BUT not all; one zillionaire and perennial presidential candidate was fingered in newspapers and “on the street” as the one who smuggled Zelaya back in to the Brazilian embassy (Surprise, Brazilia!)

And it is relevant that Maduro is the heir of the Chavista regime that has meddled in its neighbor’s internal political affairs and tried its best to save the imposition by external Force of a dictatorship that had no regard for anything but seizing power.

The phony pro-Zelaya demonstrations had some genuine bodies, but it was mostly marching-for-hire. They poured so much money into the country that the lempira went up a full 10 percent against the dollar for those several months!

Zelaya admitted in a Univision interview that he had won the election by fraud by saying that all elections have fraud.

After 2009, I have followed events in Venezuela.

Please note an unsung development in Latin America. It’s hard to see its long-term effect, but it has been noticed by some statesmen “down south”.

Honduras changed history in Latin America with its reassertion of some constitutional order inside its borders, such as it is. Don’t get a smug face about it; they did better in 2009 than the US has done in recent years. Will Obama in 2016 declare a federal election nationwide to vote for a new constitution? That momentum is building, from both the phony “right wing” and the phony “left wing”.

After the 2009 elections in Honduras, the president of El Salvador of the former “leftist” guerrilla party, declared dead the move to join Venezuela’s petro association. The mayor of Caracas demanded the importation of “cojones” from Honduras. Freedom-minded Latins were inspired all over. Honduran ex-pat communities felt relief unspeakable. Brazilian Congressmen went back to Brazil with the news that the entire Brazilian community living in Honduras were engraged at Zelaya’s refuge in their embassy.

No doubt Paraguay had Honduras in the back of their minds when they impeached and dethroned their own dictator aspirant for his dictatorial acts. Venezuela’s caudillo government whined about another CIA-backed coup.

It’s a political safe bet down south (and apparently among some libertarian circles in the US today too) to blame the CIA and the US for all their troubles.

Maybe the CIA is trying for a coup in Caracas, given the atmosphere in Latin America today. Soros has his fingers everywhere. He would love to have a dictatorship to deal with, to give him good deals, good power, after all…

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

P.S. There are videos of the police shooting at protestors there. There is video on youtube of Chavistas shooting into the million-person march (literally) in cold blood that resulted in twelve people dead. A false flag coup distracted the world’s attention from this slaughter of civilians and a de-facto socialist coup ensued thereupon by outing anti-Chavez military to purge them. These “CIA lackeys” and “coup plotters” got no punishment at all, they were cleared by the *Chavista* Supreme Court of all charges, with military pensions and all honors retained. And it was a “CIA” coup?

Can people be more gullible?

Obama a harmless “big government liberal”? Really?

March 8, 2014

Obama only a “big government liberal”?

#1. He studied under Communist Saul Alinsky disciples. He was the author of “Rules for Radicals” where among other things he tells them to bankrupt the capitalist welfare state by demanding they pay out everything they promise, lie whenever they can get away with it, and lots more of what Obama does.

#2.His “Uncle Frank” mentor he talks about in his book was Frank Marshall Davis, Communist writer and propagandist of some fame back in the day, and who made frequent visits to Obama and his grandfather’s home in Hawaii for cards, drinking, conversation.

#3.Bill Ayer, bomber and cop-killer of the Weathermen faction of SDS and now Chicago professor with tenure (“how’d that happen? Ask yourself), was the one who threw a political coming-out party for Obama that set him on his way to the political career.

#4.Obama the narcissist couldn’t help bragging to the postman on the Ayers’ route that he was going to be president.

#5. When he said “fundamentally transform” America, you think he meant just like his Dem Party predecessors? Is that what his imperial presidency looks like to you?

#6.He went off-script in one 2008 campaign speech and exposed one of his mentors’ more secret plans, to set up his own national police force with more funding and resources than the military (more because he said “at least” as much).

#7.His administration has more secrets than any other in American history, but even what he lets show is monstrous. (Like the militarized domestic police force [think "police state"], ObamaScare the Unaffordable Sick Action, kill lists, drone strikes on American citizens, universal surveillance on we the people, an endless list)

#8.He had Hillary make a personal phone call to Roberto Micheletti to order him to put the coup-plotting dictator president Manuel Zelaya back into power. Yes, coup-plotter who had already destroyed all semblance of constitutional rule in the country. The world condemned Fujimori for the same actions that Zelaya did (except that the military and people of Peru mostly supported Fujimori, and the people of Honduras massively protested against Zelaya –against the will of the American ambassador I might add)

Palin and McCain

February 2, 2014

McCain and staff set up Palin to pretend he wanted to win, and for the Government-Media complex a personified target to slam the “right” and to slam the “religious”. Some of them echo a certain tyrant’s tirades against a certain religious group as dangerous and responsible for all the nations woes. Discerning the signs in the sky (Think it’ll rain today?) but not the signs of the times.

The nomination was a gift for cronyism, but was never meant to win, so the statist cronies felt “safe” in putting her name up so the “right-wing” could take the blame for McCain’s miserable failure at winning the election but success at taking the fall as obviously intended.

And so they got Bush’s wars expanded with Obama, kept Guantanamo going, expanded his claim of power to kill whomever he deems “enemy of the state”, expanded their unconstitutional police state “total information awareness” programs and kill lists, added supporters of anti-war peacenik Ron Paul to the enemies list, brought declared Marxists and Mao sycophants into the cabinet alongside Wall Street bankers, and generally continued their program of centralized power in the imperial capital.

Liberty is getting traction with the youth. They are not fooled anymore by the two-party choices, who say one thing and do another. Ron Paul showed what a real peace movement looks like, and what an honest advocate for liberty would do, and what an honest Congressmen (No Sale for Lobbyists) looks like..

Left-fascists riot in Honduras Congress, democracy, and individual freedom

February 1, 2014

Herein read my reaction to comments in La Gringa’s “blogicito”, found at the following link:

http://tinyurl.com/m7wyh7m

This episode of changing rules in Honduras just shows the general peril of ANY government. Democracy is NOT any “better” than any other form of government. Power corrupts. Taxation is extortion by definition, no matter how many of the majority vote for it. Follow the law or go to jail. By the way, though, I read various articles on the proceedings, and they are not the end of the democracy as depicted, so much as a lot of noise and riot by a party founded by people who in power did much worse, of course.

The United States’ long history is the best attempt maybe along those lines, and look where it is now. The “strong media” of the 19th century is now a sycophantic mouthpiece for more control over every piece of your life by government. The best example of this is their treatment of the champion of individual freedom in the United States in his presidential campaign, Ron Paul.

But college kids loved him. He was different, and showed character by shutting down lobbyists, like Larry Abrammoff said in a Q&A on CSpan once, he was one that you could not get anything from him with offers of money. Otherwise, he said they’re more or less all for sale.

Centralization of power in the United States began with the Constitution, had a false start with Alexander Hamilton’s central bank baby, which Andrew Jackson killed off, got a second wind with Abraham Lincoln, and then accelerated after the Federal Reserve Bank was created and populated with the bankers they were supposedly going to regulate for the people’s interest, and it was created after a campaign that pretended it was to stop their abuses. The Income Tax was another abuse enacted the same year. It’s an abuse because I don’t have the right to tell you how much you get to keep of the fruits of your labor and how much you have to pay me for “protection”. Even if you vote for me. Theft is theft. Or call it extortion if you must, because it depends also on how “stable” such thieves are in office.

At least by a vote they have to got through pretense.

Allende was voted a plurality in Chile, and when he began ruling as an economic and political tyrant, the Congress had no constitutional remedy, so they passed a resolution DEMANDING that the military stop him. Allende did not yield to diplomatic pressure, either, and a lot of that saw the (again) sycophantic controlled “strong” media cheering Allende for cutting down Anaconda copper.

The media (outside Honduras) did not report the abused Allende perpetrated any more than they did Zelaya’s. But in 2009 we already had the Internet. So the only mainstream reporting during both abusive regimes was condemnatory of the moves against leftist-fascism.

Think not; more centralized control is their game plan. At least that’s what they do. Some as zombies, true, but nonetheless.

That’s why hope for Honduras, in my opinion, has two grounds for optimism.

ONE, the fact that one of the poorest country in Latin America, and that was already saturated by violent gangs and the same demagaguery as Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, and even Argentina and Brazil, nonetheless pushed back against the tyranny.

TWO, they worked quickly to find a way to bring Honduras out of the vicious poverty swamp. They scoured the world and brought people from Chile to share how they became the first Latin American developed country. They investigated the examples of South Korea (contrast with North Korea) and Hong Kong and China’s special economic zones (that copy the HK model), Singapore, that became prosperous while their neighbors sank in the mire.

The politics is noisy in Honduras right now, and the dirty laundry is now public, but it was always thus. It’s just that after 2009, they have to stay clean, at least until the sons of the Chavez-Zelaya-Castro marriage grab a majority or plurality.

It was always much WORSE in fact. I have certain knowledge that many of the Congress years past were into the kinds of business that would make Al Capone blush. And that includes some of those now demanding “democracy” from the controlling coalition.

Fighting over the spoils of conquest is what this is, and people must push back against any government having any power at all to loot anybody.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the  blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…

Matthew 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

Left-fascism is marriage of Big Crony Capitalism with “Socialism”

January 12, 2014

Left-fascist groupies are so clueless sometimes.
I don’t know why Dick wants to flaunt it so much.

The idiocy of so-called “left-right” politics, party political groupthink fads, is shown when you analyze down to the legislations and “quo bono” (who benefits?), and you see who contributes to whom.

The Chamber is so full of people that absolutely love big government and regulations that they help write, that he hates the people who are fighting for the rights of the “little guy” to do business free of business-killing extortionist tax theft:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2014/01/08/donohue-chamber-will-oppose-some-tea-party-candidates/

This is a demonstration of what I mean when I say left-fascist: it’s the marriage of people the Media likes to call “rightist” and the special interests they would call “leftist” if they were consistent. The parties play along. Dems pretend to rant and rave against Big Business and demand agencies to control them, and then invite Big Business to write the legislation (as long as they make some contributions to their PACs), and as long as Big Business agrees to let them buy the poor man’s vote with freebies.

The party-boss Repubs pretend to demand business-friendly policies and legislation, but then they invite Big Business (like the big contributors to the USCC budget) to help write the business-friendly legislation with both the regulations and rules that stunt smaller competitors, plus, write all kinds of payouts to the contributors.

Well, looky here to see the employers for the biggest contributors to Barack Obama:
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cid=N00009638

Among the top donor companies are Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase, Google, Citigroup, US government employees (surprise!), Time Warner, Sidley Austin LLP (who dey?), National Amusements Inc, and IBM Corp.

And ONLY the gullible continue to think that Obama favors the poor over his ruling class buddies?! People, the biggest supporters of the Bolsheviks were capitalist tycoons “robber barons”!

What is really behind the Chamber of Commerce hate for the “Tea Party” people, Really?

January 11, 2014

Conservatives question US Chamber’s plan to spend millions to defeat Tea Party style candidates in 2014 | Fox News:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/01/11/conservatives-question-us-chamber-plan-to-spend-millions-to-defeat-tea-party/

The article says that it’s their reaction to the so-called “tea party” shutdown of government over Obamacare last year (2013).

Really? Or is it –just maybe– because the “Tea Party” identifying Congressmen are hanging out shingles on their doors that say “No Sale”?

Sure, a few really big corporations lost some government money during that shutdown. Mr. Unofficial Fabian Socialist of the left-fascist faction made sure of that, as anyone who paid attention to the details knows.

But then they kept on going.

Maybe it’s the tea-party’s major issue that has them scared: That fedgov has gotten way too big, and handles way too much money.

To me, it was a fascinating turn of events. I never thought the Chamber of Commerce, that claims to be the voice of business and –so we thought– free enterprise, would be so blatant and public about advocating against freedom of enterprise and relief for the “Taxed Enough Already”. But there they go, they are.

I thought they might grumble silently, because the businesses that have survived the Fed, the income tax, regulation, the New Deal, the War on Poverty, the wars in Europe, the welfare-warfare state, and the lead-up to the rollout of the Unaffordable Sick Act (aka Obamacare; or )

Of course it’s the small businesses that cannot afford the deep-pocket lobbyists who really are sick and tired of fedgov burdens and chains on their economic freedoms. The last thing they want to do is to kill their business by endangering their customers. But government-protected businesses have to be big, for the kind of results demanded and for the influence they get.

So, there you go. America’s biggest corporations have declared themselves full supporters of left-fascist government. I warned conservatives in the Bush years that the totalitarian surveillance state would be turned on them with a changing to the Hustler-in-Chief. I warned the “liberals” and the “Democrats” that there was no difference.

Sure, Obama would accelerate Bush’s push to expand the welfare state, but then he would also continue and expand the warfare state. This is a big-business unspoken understanding, but know this: the biggest among them would rather lose the medical industry to Obama’s”care” than to give up their now full-blown partnership with fedgov’s force-enforced domination of the economy.

Obama’s cabinet picks, and especially his “czars” (short for little Caesars) demonstrated this clearly. He had people from Wall Street, Big Bankers including Goldman Sachs, Big Industry, leftists from Academia, including open Communists, the environmentally religious, all thrown into the same mix and working together.

Really big business marries Big Brother, a trade made in hell. Big Business sells its wares to fedgov, and fedgov operatives sell favors to Big Business.

Yep. Congress has about a 9% approval rate and a general 90-95 percent re-election rate, where it jumped to after passage of the McCain Feingold Incumbent Protection-Racket Campaign Finance Reform. Before that act it was already hard enough to unseat one of this most despised political club in the country at an 80 percent re-election rate.

GALATIANS 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Are we “safe” yet?

December 26, 2013

So said a lover of state security to me:

Therein lies the problem. You say these words, you believe these words,
but what you really mean is you are free to do whatever you wish to do
and everyone else is free to do whatever you wish to allow them to do.

Oh yes, lover of state security, that is the perfect definition of totalitarian government, which lies at the end of the left-fascist utopian road down to the valley of perdition, where they take care of you their own way whether you like it or not.

(MEMO: WE DON’T LIKE IT!)

Better than FREEDOM is security, eh? Oh yeah, you’re so safe now right?

Well, let’s see how safe we are:

..body search and seizure in every flight,

every one of your phone calls recorded and meta-data collected in case they want to look at it later,

stop-all-citizens and demand-papers checkpoints whenever they feel like it,

dragging people out of ALL their houses and searching them for bad guys and roughing them up if they question you, “voluntarily” wink wink,

looting of the economy for big money banks,

currency whiplash by the currency kings and money changers,

dozens of bullets confusing an unarmed and confused young mother before ever seeing a weapon,

muzzles on all types of religious expression but especially the Christian kind,

targeting of political opponents by the tax collectors,

a “kill list” with whomever is a threat on it,

extortion to pay for procedures against conscience,

the entire economy looted to force the whole country into risky insurance schemes they hated,

losing their insurance and doctors,

drones provoking anti-American animosity around the world,

the government telling you forget about defending yourself (leave it to us, we’ll make a report when we get there),

extortion to pay for chemicals that prohibit the free exercise of your religion,

longest and highest time of unemployment in the U.S. since the Great Depression,

$17 TRILLION debt setting up for a dollar crash that will set off the most violent domestic social disruption in American history since the War Between the States,

a treaty that invites Russian forces into the United States in case of any domestic self-defense against government attacks,

“fusion centers” to turn your local home-town sheriff into an armed enforcement organ of this security state,

naming of peaceful religious and para-religious groups in lists of official bad guys,

THE LISTING OF THE MOST PEACEFUL AND ANTI-WAR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN HISTORY as one to watch together with the most violent organizations in the world,

the overthrowing of governments around the world, something that American left-fascists used to oppose but now demand, led by this security state,

Pentagon-designed programs spawned into all federal agencies by their original “Total Information Awareness” project,

even their own security state agents shot up with hallucinogens to study the effect,

syphilis deliberately injected into citizens to study the effects of infection,

dangerous and poisonous industrial chemicals approved for human food,

When you ask a fox to guard your hen house, don’t be surprised if it starts eating your children.

And you feel “safer” with all that than without it?!

Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Daily Bell relates Monsanto, Uruguay, George Soros, GMO, Prohibition, “Legalization”

December 15, 2013
Palacio Legislativo, Montevideo

Palacio Legislativo, Montevideo (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The story is here:  http://www.thedailybell.com/news-analysis/34833/Monsanto-Marijuana-Initiative-Grows-in-Uruguay/

The Daily Bell writers regularly surprise me with perceptive insights, some of them of monumental importance in current events. They make connections that many of us fail to make, they often connect the dots for us.

Uruguay has become the first nation in modern times to “legalize” marijuana use. But the law requires users to register with the government, and restricts consumption per user to “up to 40g (1,4oz) of the drug a month”. It may be a step in the right direction, but that’s not much. When I was a college kid I toked (as we called it) on weekends, but quit later. My experience with it gave me a great way to tell my kids about it, how it makes you really, really dumb. Oh yes it does!

But despite the wasteful uselessness of the recreational use of the drug for a chemical high, banning it altogether is still worse, and the best scenario as in all things concerning such issues, is to ban the use of force to prevent its use for any reason whatsoever. Introducing a machinery of third parties making a maze of rules about it, means also creating an armed group with the purpose of making people obey those rules under threat.

Better to convince users with facts, rather than using the threat of force.

“A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still”.

Anyway, read the Daily Bell article. It’s worth the read.

Christ was not Communist, or a Crony Capitalist Either, BUT…

December 8, 2013

This is a shout-out to
http://politicallyunclassifiable.blogspot.com/2013/10/christ-was-not-communistbut-he-wasnt.html

…which the author says is an answer to:

The truth is, they both seem to be wrong. The “Orthodoxy Today” seems reluctant to take the Biblical truths that they do glimpse to its proper conclusions. The “answer to it” also misses the logical conclusions from scripture.

I’ll say right out what they both miss are the implications of two principles, also enshrined in the Ten Commandments, and expanded by Jesus Christ himself. For the purposes of addressing government-enforced redistribution, take your pick: Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, and the Golden Rule, often paraphrased as Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

The confusion for most people today stems from a strong “tradition of men” that in their minds has confused their thinking. Confused mine in times past.

What confuses them is automatically thinking of government as an inescapable necessity, without actually thinking very much about the premise itself.

you cannot reform the physical, absent fear, without reforming the spiritual. [sic]

That’s true but is a dance around the issue. Granted it is a dance begun by the orthodoxytoday essay, but there is also truth that the difference between “spirit” and “flesh” is a Biblical one.

There are precedents for a certain amount of govt. intervention and
controls and the charity of the OT was MANDATORY, the third year
tithe went to the poor, the edges of croplands were not to be harvested
but left for the poor, ditto going over one’s fruit trees more than once,
and the tither on the third year was required to make an accounting to
the elders and public to be sure he had in fact done this.

Yes, this is true, but please note the important part that relates to the role of any government in this picture. The “charity” of the Old Testament was mandatory, a commandment to the lawful believers. I like to mention this as an example of the many things in the actual laws of Moses that show that it was very much favorable to the poor, the innocent, the unfairly accused, and so on.

The description there of the “third-year accounting” is a bit more than is in the passages. I have read through the whole Torah, but don’t have it memorized and had to search for the “third year” passage. It is there, but the “‘accounting” is to GOD HIMSELF, not an earthly governmental intermediary, not even the priests, although I will grant that the whole chapter might lend itself to such an interpretation, though “thus saith the Bible” is too strong for it. But this is a quibble next to the important point here.

Those with lands and harvests were indeed commanded to leave some behind, enough for the poor that would come and pick it up behind them.

Punishment to enforce? risk of loss of God‘s protection and famine,
disease and foreign invasion as a result.

Yes, that’s right, but again, God did not order some earthly group to carry this out. In fact, David said his enemies were “God’s sword”, because they were used by God to carry out his judgments.

In fact, today in current events we see God using the enemies of the body of Christ, and the enemies of those who invoke his name (not always the same people), using them to enforce judgments against his house. “Judgment must begin in the house of God:” (1 Peter 4:17).

Now, another question is, just what DOES help the poor? Sure, there
is an issue of proper use of funds by govt. but the same is true of
private charitable organizations. Discernment is necessary. But if
everyone on food stamps or SSI suddenly had to depend on churches
and Salvation Army, you can count on it those systems would go
bankrupt.

No you can NOT “count on it those systems would go bankrupt”. You have no way of knowing that, you cannot say that with any certainty except for the indoctrination we’ve been subjected to in the recent generations of the rise of the welfare state.

In fact, history needs a revision to counter the revision we’ve been taught. Editors revise manuscripts to make them better, and history books need editors that know their facts better in some cases, and are more intellectually honest in other cases, and in more instances, editors and writers that are just not so lazy.

The abuses of child labor in the 18th century, for example, that we learned about, were actually the ones mostly committed by government child centers.

And the real problem when you look closely, is not so much big govt., as big business that OWNS the govt. and runs it.)

But the problem when business “owns” the government is the fact that a government uses force, using the threat of confiscations and prison against its victims. If a government official sells the services of such force, then I see there are two problems that have nothing to do with what the business does, and another problem with what the business does. That’s three.

One, the government official is selling the service of force against others. If force is not involved, the business would have no need for government intervention. That means legislators too.

Two, the fact that a government can force its subjects to obey under penalty of several means of coercion.

Three, the business pays for these coercions, with the exception of the tit-for-tat type corruption that government officials or politicians threaten, so as to extort “campaign contributions”. This is known as “rent-seeking”. It is a way to benefit from the monopoly of force inflicted upon the rest of us through the use of force.

In fact, I have read cases studies of legislators proposing legislation that will reduce revenues for a particular company or industry, then “campaign contributions” are made to those legislators and they get visits by the lobbyists and the legislation goes away.

Bill Gates and Microsoft gave almost nothing to political campaigns before the anti-trust trials, for example, but were very generous afterward…

Another problem is the repeal of the parts of Glass-Steagall

That was a favor to certain interests, for sure.

THOU SHALT NOT STEAL.

The problem with the welfare state, the problem with any government giving anything at all to anybody, is that for a government to give anything, it has to rob it from somebody else.

THOU SHALT NOT STEAL.

Christians that follow Christ truly do have an obligation to help the poor. In fact, everyone should. But you cannot saying you are helping the poor if you rob your neighbor to help another neighbor. You are just making yourself feel better.

The same thing applies whether you get a Mafia boss to do it, Theft Incorporated, or your local mayor or governor or president. It does not matter if you get a mob of 51% of the population in your area to vote for somebody to hire armed men to rob some of the people so as to give other people the proceeds.

Even if you vote for yourself to be among the “victims”, it does no good, because you are an accessory to the theft where the victims are the unwilling “donors” who are not donors but victims of theft now.

At this point many readers coming across this as a new concept are getting mental protests that government is necessary for lots of things. I thought so too at first, but it is a discussion to have.

BIBLICALLY

There was mention of the laws of Moses and mandates for the poor. Note that when the people of Israel asked for a real government, though, God told Samuel that they had rejected God, not Samuel.

1 Samuel 8:6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord.

7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

Now we all are taught in Sunday School or by preachers that Jesus said “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s and unto God that which is God’s”, when he was asked about taxes by the Pharisees and Sadducees that sought to trick him into condemning himself or making himself unpopular.

But let us see what Jesus really thought about anybody who imposed any taxes on anybody

27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

The kings of the earth (those who tell the rest of us to pay taxes) do not pay those taxes themselves, and do not impose them on their own children, but on “strangers”.

And don’t forget what he did to the people that controlled the currency exchanges of the day, and their false balances. Imagine what he would to to the Fed:

John 2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;

Imagine what he will eventually do upon his return to those “kings” that have robbed the poor and middle class with their fiat currency and money devaluation, and the false balance of a fiat currency, and through their devious legislation passed with a false balance (lies) of saying it’s for the poor but are not.

Better they leave us alone. Government is just a bigger Mafia than the rest of them. Sometimes it’s a kinder, gentler Mafia but whenever they tell you they want to help you, reach for your pocketbook. (And whatever you have to defend yourself with).
